Indohydra: Are there going to be any direct comparisons of image quality between this and the high MP images one is now getting from full frame mirrorless?

@lightwriter I have seen (and I own one) samples of the venerable Nokia 808 ("only" 41Mpix) and these were really astounding 12 years ago... yes, 12.

Bobthearch: So who is responsible for the horrible green ghost reflection that's ubiquitous in cell phone snapshots, Sony? Or the lens maker?

One thing's for sure: Apple's algorithms are responsible for the horrible skin tones, aka orange peel...

PIOT: - No Full frame
- No Stacked Sensor
- No 8k 240FPS Video
- No 41 FPS
- No 300mm 1.2 in a bundle

And once camera like this is here all people who are so active here will never buy one
Keep complaining

Only so-called photographers can believe bigger sensors will improve their photos...

Photographers vs amateurs.

@Dave_B_B Then amateurs could just stick to their camera without using the GAS as an excuse, couldn't they?

For years, the main camera used for fashion, ads, sports... have the "only" 12Mpix Nikon D700.

Did it make to magazines covers? Yes.
Did it make it to product photography? Yes.
Did it make it to fashion photography? Yes.
Did it make it to billboards? Yes.

And the list goes on and on...

We, pros, don't switch gear every other year.
If the camera does the job, is reliable and the client is happy with the delivery, that's all that matters.
Who seriously care about a 1/3rd extra stop in DR???

@Zorgon Pros get paid because of their talent and skills, not because of their pretty face... Why do I have to explain it?

@zorgon An amateur will always think he needs more Mpix, more high ISO, more DR because of lack of skills.

A pro will make the photo anyway and get paid.
No time for moaning or complaining.

snapa: Pictures 2 & 7 should have been deleted, for such an expensive camer, IMO.
Also, a very unremarkable gallery. It is not as if those photos will help sell this camera.

Can't wait to see your better photos...

Giulio Severini: I was going to buy the Iphone 14 Pro Max but then, looking a the price in my country - 2,199 EUR for the 1TB version - I decided to let it go by. Then, I re-discovered the pleasure to shoot with my (old) Nikon D750 with a 24-70 Sigma Art lens mounted on it. And I believe I did the right thing. I look at the quality of the photos taken with my Nikon and they blow away the photos taken with the Iphone 13 Pro Max which I occasionally had the pleasure to shoot with. I have to test with the Iphone 14 Pro Max. But I am sure that, AI apart, it will be another no contest.

Of course you have made the right decision.
People are so influenced by Apple's marketing...

The quality of Iphones phoro is poor. Goof enough for social but that's it.
Any 500$ camera will wipe the floor with the Iphone (or any smartphone) when it comes to DR, high ISO, AF speed, versatility, sturdiness...

Influencers who are being bribed by Apple getting Iphones for free should be bannes from socials.
They are liars. Plain and simple.

JackM: I have an iPhone 13 Pro, and a Canon 5D4. Phones are a LONG way off.

My workhorse is the venerable 5DIV.
I have been thinking to upgrade to a R5 but it is so reliable I won't.
More thinking about a 1DxIII for it's battery life and AF (when needed).

SEdward: IPhones are getting prohibitedly expensive. The iPhone 14 Pro costs north of $1,000. I can pick up a full-frame mirrorless camera (i.e, Canon RP) for less than that or a couple of used Canon 7DMK II's for the same price as one IPhone. It appears the IPhone is becoming the rich man's camera. Maybe someday I will be able to afford one.

@HowaboutRaw How is the one on the Iphone?

&JK Yes, the Xperia Pro if I remember well but it wasn’t photo oriented and very expensive for a monitor.

You don't have to.
An Oppo X5 Pro wipes the floor from kitchen to bathroom when it comes to mobile photography.

More than never, the Iphone is becoming a social status thing that separates the rich from the crowd...

Breaking news: the Iphone 15 will be even more expensive, then the 16, the 17 and so on till they break the 2k mark.

I applaud Apple's marketing team though: they are experts in manipulating minds that don't think anymore.

Well done Apple, very good marketing and well done T-Mobile for giving away Iphones for free with a new contract.

The truth is a flagship Oppo, Samsung or Huawei will swipe the floor with ANY Iphone model to date.

It seems to me people are blind to the disgusting skintones and skin texture of the Iphone (orange peel look anyone?).

Come on people, don't be so hypnotized by Apple's marketing!

Have a look at GSMArena review results here:

NO texture on the donkey's green fabric, the halo on the pencils' tip, the blurry 5 bucks note, the fuzzy texture on Sponge Bob...

One of the best photo smartphones I have owned was the Xperia Pro-I: really nice results, fine grain but slow and unintuitive UI and abyssimal battery life.
That phone takes photos I could print at A4 size.

@Mr Bolton I remember when Apple added the copy/paste on the Iphone 3 or 3G... It was hilarious to hear people talking about this "amazing feature" that I have been using for years on my Ericsson R520m a couple of years earlier...

Sometimes I wonder why people are so influencable...
Why don't they use their brain...

By then, it should cost 3500$ and gusee what I have an amazing news for you: it will be "the most powerful Iphone" with gazillions operations per second...
Wow, sending a text will never be so fast...

Come on people, this is not a bug: it's a hidden function for shake photography!
This is why we're paying 1499€ in Europe.

Thanks to the 17 trillions operations per second the A16 can do, yes, you'll be able to send texts and make calls.

IOs power...
