Well, the usual moaners and groaners are out in force again as per usual. Yes images are a little soft but I think these are very promising for a mobile phone. The only phone it seems that outperforms this is the new Nokia 1020.

This will give the z-lister celebs the excuse to say, oh I forgot to swtich the autoigrapher off (while posing nude in front of mirrors, having sex, pooing etc..) Ewwww.....

Whoever's designing this rip off and thinking that adding that monstrosity of a grip could somehow distingusih itself from its far superior original should be dragged out of the woods, tied to a tree and flogged severely for his/her folly.

I am using an android phone atm. Windows phone is not that uncool, just came in late in the game, but I think this will help boost its profile.

On article Sony unleashes Cyber-shot RX100 II with BSI CMOS sensor (174 comments in total)

I have my RX100 for more than six months now and all I can say that it's a very very competent carry-everywhere camera which delivers excellent image quality for both the stills and the videos (shot every clip in 50p)! This is definitely a welcome upgrade with the same sensor. There are some complaints that the screens are not articulated and there is no viewfinder (not a problem for me personally) so I am sure more people are going to find this camera a very convincing carry-around compact or a second camera to their DSLR.

Jostian: horrible IQ! disgusting, and this from a company that had the best camera phones a few years back... dunno what went wrong but something drasticly bad happened in the camera department!

I supposed if you measure quality with numbers like the DXO indices, then xperia z comes up short. But look at real world comparison. One notable reviewer from Australia (his youtube name is blunty3000) made a side by side comparison. Though i definitely won't say xperia z is in any way surpassing iphone5, but the short he made and the video side by sides look comparable to me...

I own the xperia z and rx100. Though it's clear xperia z camera is far far far from the excellent quality of my rx100, it wasn't as bad as it appears to be in this test. Mine was the newest firmware, and under bright lights they gave pleasing details, colour rendition and high DR for a camera phone. Albeit the video quality was soft compared to the amazing RX100 video capability, it's not THAT shabby. So I really don't know what you are talking about when you refer this as 'horrible' in terms of IQ. It certainly look comparable to iphone 5 photo quality in general lighting conditions.
