When deciding between the 70-200 and 100-400, I only considered larger aperture vs extra reach. Didn't really think about the wider end of the lens, because my other lens covers 70-100. Boy was I ...

Thanks for all the thoughtful inputs. It's more of a learning process. never thought of dust can "just appear". All along I thought dust can be introduced during lens change, so I always loosen the ...

Hoya HD UV. ( I was buying UV filter as protector before, now I just get Hoya HD Protector.)
-
But the funny thing is I always use a filter, so that Canon explanation doesn't really hold up.
-
So possibly the dust entered from the rear while exposed during lens change? And worked its way to the front? Seems like it's resting on the second element behind the front glass.

This particular lens is a 70-200mm/f2.8 with internal zoom. Since the lens is fully sealed, I wonder how did a speck of dust go in there? I have never noticed it until today, so not sure how long ...

I may eventually get a 70-200mm/2.8, I really like the Nikon one as a sports and portrait lens, the Sony equivalent should be similar. Perhaps will just wait for the updated version and see, ...

Just realised the dates are wrong, was wondering why it says Friday. :D

That's a good idea. I used to have a monopod head but sold it due to lack of use. You have reminded me that I can simple use the ball head. Cheers!

Just an update, decided on the 100-400. Went to the track to test it out, the extra reach definitely came in handy, 200 wouldn't be enough. The lens is capable, I need more practice, and probably ...

Thanks all for your feedback. My local Sony store should have both lenses to try, only if they let me borrow them to go outside for half a day. :D I usually shot from the side of the road, so 200mm ...

Shots from my other cameras.

Yet another discussion on these 2 lenses. I'm leaning towards the 100-400, but not sure if it can produce sharp panning shots, i.e. panning and focus lock on fast moving objects like cars and ...

Cheers! I might get the 100-400 later, so I figure 24-105 covers the a good range and allows me to get acquainted with Sony body for the time being. I'm going to think about it and probably go back ...

Cool, the toggle actually works better. Cheers!

Yeah, was leaning towards the Sony due it being the obvious market and technology leader. Just checking in case there’s a compelling reason to stay with Nikon. It funny how Nikon has started to ...

Sony 24-105. It’s actually cheaper than the Sigma 24-70, and I wanted the extra reach, and I already have 77mm filters which is a convenience, the Sigma takes 82mm filters.

Thanks. Plan is to sell Nikon, and part Olympus, but keep the EM1ii, 12-100/4, and 60/2.8 macro.
-
So I have turned off "AF w/ shutter" on the A7iii, auto focus is only by pressing the AF-ON button, aka back button focusing. If focus mode is set to AF-C and I'm holding down AF-ON. then how can I ...
