Wow, you really read a lot into that! Despite the conversation touching several areas, it was still about "what's the minimum shutter speed I can handhold." I was intrigued with drj3's method of ...

I can't imagine why folks have more than one? I have Arca-Swiss PO Monoball for my tripod, and Wimberly Monogimbal for my monopod.

I appreciate everyone's input and what a relief to know that understanding this is a bit confusing. I used Faststone Image Viewer to make a crop using the same pixel dimensions as my monitor, then ...

No, I don't use back button focus. I use C-AF almost exclusively. Even for stills. I read about BBF and watched a few youtubes on it, but it isn't instinctive for me to press two buttons to take ...

I was skeptical of the Hadley Pro when I first got it, too -- but its simple design invariably wins out over other solutions. I do have a Crumpler insert that I can use in my backpack if I want ...

Very interesting! Thank you for this.

I am just not confident about the 100% display thing. Both Photomechanic and Lightroom say they are displaying my image at 100% -- however it looks too small to me to check for focus. When I ...

The point, for me, was the variation of focus within a burst of 10. I was expecting that maybe the first was good and the rest bad, or maybe vice-versa, but I didn't expect that some were better ...

yup, I should be doing that now instead of reading, lol!

I really value the opinions and discussions on these forums, and I am glad the advice isn't just focused on a solution for me, but what works for them, too. Sometimes it takes seeing the big ...

My normal subjects move too much for a delay. I will have to see if my first images are always the worst ones of a burst. I certainly saw a few that way.. jan

Again, thanks! Very helpful to see how this should look on my monitor and what to look for. jan

No, I haven't. And you're right, that would be interesting. I only use silent shutter. I have never used anti-shock, maybe I should try it.. My first images haven't always been the sharp ones, ...

No Legos here, either -- but I was thinking of bolting a ruler to a stuffed animal for when I try it outside. :-) Something that would let me get an idea of DOF, too. Legos is pretty creative, though.

Ah! Got it. That was a great example for me as to why I should shoot at an angle. Thanks! jan

Good idea. My usual subject is further away. And good idea to do the same series just varying ISO as it seems I am always in lower light or shade. Would be nice to get a feel as to what works for me.

2fps is a good idea... It is hard when you have a lot of photos to cull, takes the joy out. Most of the time my shutter speed is quite high as I am shooting horses, birds or motorcycles, but it ...

Hmmm... it seems that when I was checking focus I had it zoomed to 300% in PhotoMechanic. That must mean that the software was creating pixels to fill in the additional magnification about 100%. ...

@drj3 suggested a simple way to test the minimum shutter speed we can handhold by taking photos of our monitor at progressively lower shutter speeds and see when they begin to get blurry. I just ...
