About me:

Verbage is not a word, but a mangling of verbiage - differing in both print and meaning. It replaces more cumbersome words such as copy and text.

GossCTP's recent activity

  • I sold mine to a friend who used it for several years. Not sure what he did with it, but the sensor was getting lots of dead and stuck pixels by the time he upgraded to a K5ii.
  • Commented on article LG G6 camera review

I just "upgraded" from a g4 that finally succumbed to the boot loop failure. The g6 is a big step back in camera quality. The g4 had better center sharpness than my DSLR compared at the equivalent...

  • Replied in Pentax istDL
This is incorrect. SD cards went up to 2gb. There was a firmware update that allows for SDHC, which goes to 32gb. As another pointed out, the firmware would have to be installed from a card that ...
  • I can't answer your question, but I will say the k20d is a much older af than what is in the KP. It might be the same as the original *istD, though I can't remember. There have been several ...
  • I think the reason they did so was they were putting the guts of the external GPS unit inside of the camera. Since the GPS wires go to the hotshoe in the K-3 it really didn't take a lot to ...
  • Replied in fatal scratch?
It seems the image has reversed vignetting, with brighter corners. I'm a little surprised at the degree to which the lens is affected considering how minuscule the damage seems.
  • Replied in pentax KP
I agree - the KP seems geared towards those who have stuck with the K5 series. I don't know if they hit their mark or not.
  • Replied in Processed RAWs
Say what you will, but my screen looks way better than those ultra high iso shots.
  • Clearly, Pentikon is the more photographic sounding name ;-)

  • I have both of them. The 16-85 has a better build quality and a quieter af. I haven't warmed up to it though, as it seems to never focus right. IQ wise, I can't tell much difference between the ...
  • Until some reviews and user reports are out, I'm not making a decision on the KP. As far as fuji, while I am a proponent of mirrorless, I am rather disappointed in the way it has played out. In ...
  • Replied in Processed RAWs
My phone has more resolution than an hd monitor. Roughly 2500 x 1500.
  • Replied in Gamut
Like you, I used to shoot RAW back when I was unhappy with the jpeg output of my camera. I upgraded my DSLR and found the jpegs and auto white balance much better and kind of got lazy. The best ...
  • If that came from Ricoh, it's a pretty poor attempt at a promo shot. Even though the feature is a gimmick, they still should have used a shot with less DR and shadow detail if they wanted to show ...
  • Replied in First camera
I think they are for movies. My biggest gripe with them is the fly by wire manual focusing which all mirrorless seem to use. Pentax and Nikon both use pretty much identical Sony sensors, so good ...
  • Vs $1900 for a KP with the 20-40. Not seeing your point.
  • I'm going to guess that they rebadged a 2x teleconverter without the optics. TCs have af gear reduction to slow down the af speed  in order to cope with lower light levels and more critical focusing.
  • While there are fewer lenses from other mounts that will fit the pentax vs the sony, any lens that will mount on the k-1 will work with ibis. The camera asks for manual input of the focal length.
  • Barkley doing George Burns impression Quick and dirty with faststone. Shot with k5ii.
