Scots Pines cleared
Groves of Scots Pines are the most peaceful of environments, almost magical. Finding them clear-felled is a reminder that they are in fact a crop to be harvested eventually. This area near Red Lead Mill was cleared a couple of years ago and is now a muddy, marshy quagmire. Not only are there no trees to soak up moisture, they were cleared during the wettest month for years and the huge machines wrecked the drainage. 7th January 2012
