Central Park NYC - "Indian Hunter" 1869 Placed in Park
This was the first sculpture by an American artist placed in Central Park. Completed by John Quincy Adams Ward in 1866 and placed 3 years later in Central Park in 1869. Made of Bronze the contrast with the winter snow in the background always struck me. This is a beautiful work of art and it changes with seasons. One thing is for sure, no matter the weather this Indian Hunter and his trusted dog will grace Central Park.
