The challenge was to photograph a book as if it had just been set down.

The idea here is I grabbed the phone to look up some more information about apertures.

The camera was on a tripod and one of the legs was shortened and on the seat between my legs. The camera was in my face but I couldn't see through the viewfinder. Live view was used to compose and contrast detect focus to make things sharp.

A flash on the right bounced off the corner behind me on my left. The camera was wrapped in dark cloth to reduce reflections. A remote shutter release was triggered with my mouth. I took several pictures to get the light on the phone right and to be sure my hand hadn't drifted out of the depth of field.

I got the book in 1981. The table cloth really is a poor color for this picture. Every other color I have is dark. The table is dark. I figured the brighter color would stand out better in the challenge...
