While hiking in the local mountains of Malibu Creek I ran into this raptor perched at top a fall stricken tree. Interestingly, a queue of hikers slowly began to stack up with camera phones in hand just waiting for the perched bird to take flight. Thirty minutes later, the uncommonly comfortable bird finally spots something in the distance and elegantly takes flight, birthing this image.
