The moulted exoskeleton split just behind the head, and the moulted head capsule came off forwards (and by coincidence ended up near the rest of the moulted exoskeleton), while the rest is in the final stage of being slipped off backwards. The third pair of true legs has a strange clublike form which can be seen in both the black moulted exoskeleton and the leg itself (now pale coloured). The caterpillar is about 15mm long.
