Thank you, Kent! That particular place was in the far northeast corner MT, just a few hundred yards south of the Canadian border. Probably the closest real town would be Plentywood.

I've never been to California. My partner, Nancy, and I live way back in the woods/mountains in Pennsylvania. We are upland bird hunters, so our travels in the west are exclusively to very remote areas - MT, ID, ND, etc. Way too many people in Calif.

You do bump into quite a few abandoned house in those harsh lonely places. I have many such pics on my Flickr site. https://www.flickr.com/photos/137747053@N07/

We usually head east to Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks to sail for a couple months in the spring. But, we would LOVE to see the Calif redwoods, so maybe one day...
