X-T50 firmware 1.01 upgrade fails

After charging, the app has downloaded the file to the camera and has now installed the upgrade, Unless Fuji are giving me a different file for the region (I’m in the UK), I think it is the right firmware and (pure guess) one for Fuji developers to investigate.

Thanks for the update.

Why it's failing for me is a mystery.

Try downloading x-t5 firmware an compare whether they are identical or not with x-s50 firmware if the problem as you say could be x-t5 by mistake on Fuji's part

Guesswork. The error message suggests that, during the upgrade the process checks for a model number or other info in the camera to identify it and that there is also something in the firmware that identifies the models with which it is compatible. The two lookups need to match. There is also the possibility that the actual error message is misleading. Either way it looks like a fixable software issue that needs Fiji’s support desk to help.

Good idea. Filenames and byte counts are different.

The check for matching model number makes sense to me too.

I'll try and contact Fujifilm support.

I'm sure this is a crazy thought, but maybe Fujifilm released buggy firmware. ;-) The only other thing I can suggest is to do a factory reset on the camera and then try again if you get impatient.
I tried a factory reset. Firmware updates via SD card or phone X APP still fail with the same error. I had my settings saved via the X APP so restoring those was easy.

I've emailed both Fujifilm and B&H support.

I'll post again with any updates.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Sorry you guys are having trouble. I upgraded with the app a bit ago and it worked fine. In USA if that matters.

Try the US region download page here

The byte size is the same.

I wonder if some cameras left the factory with some firmware sub-revision that the firmware updater was not prepared to parse.

Same exact situation and subsequent error. I would rule out OS being the problem when Fuji XApp fails to update the camera.

I have exactly same issue and tried everything you did with the same result.
I'm sorry to learn you're having the same issue, but glad to learn it's not just me.

I agree. Since some owners are updating without issue my suspicions are now with the on-camera software.

It's looking that way to me too.

..
Everything appears normal until pressing OK to proceed with the upgrade, then a message saying something like Firmware not for this camera. Turn camera off now.

I also tried updating through the Fujifilm XAPP on my phone. The entire process looks normal; firmware downloads via Internet, uploads to the X-T50, update begins but fails with the same message: firmware not for this camera.

.
I think the problem is not on your end, but with Fuji as it does not work on two routes, soy you should contact them.

AFAICT filenames [which are unique to each model] are numbered sequentially. The X-S20 has 0031 according to the list on the download page, the X-T50 0033, which would mean 0032 was skipped

When you connect your camera to a PC, is it recognised as X-T50?

Have you checked the FW version installed on your camera? (Press the Display button and keep it pressed and turn ON the camera)

Then I have no idea. I've never had that issue, but I don't have an X-T50.
