I recently updated my ASUS laptop Win11 machine (Home Version) and found that the color profile was not loading to the video card. No problem before this update.

The update in question is:

Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5058411)

I then calibrated the monitor with my Spyder 5 Elite rig. (Software up to date).

After running the calibration routine, it generated a new color profile and that new profile loads as expected.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

I calibrated my monitor earlier today after updating the Nvidia driver. The monitor is hardware calibrated, but I check that the system default is set to the latest ICC profile. When I did that, there...
The profile in question was set as the default in the Color Management control panel?

Prior to doing the color calibration I checked the Color Management control panel and there was no profile to set as default. Very strange.

If memory serves, I've seen that before.

You may have been able to add the profile. You could look to see whether it's still present. (I expect that it is.)

The latest WIN11 installs change the default color profile behaviour to "Auto Color Management" (ACM).

When running EIZO Colornavigator for the first time after reinstalling it told me where to reset this. I can't find back how though.

I haven't had the problem but it's suggested you update your video driver specific to your video card after each update.

I don't think that's the OP's issue. ACM isn't supposed to apply to color managed software. It certainly doesn't get rid of the profile.

To see the ACM switch, go to the System/Display screen. Click on the right of the Color Profile line. (At the > symbol.) That'll open a screen with the ACM switch.

Oddly enough, I found it necessary to have ACM enabled to get a 30 bit color display in Photoshop. (Haven't checked that recently.)

There's a legacy setting in color profiling apps that disables ACM from interfering with the profile. ACM causes the profile to be limited to something like an sRGB gamut.

When I did that, there was a notification that the system default had changed. It was changed to an old default ICC monitor profile. I installed KB5058411 last week but hadn't seen before where a Windows update changed the default system color profile. So, long story short, the change appears to be related to the Windows update.

Tom-

Interesting (?) factoid-

My NVIDIA 4060 card is updated the 19th of every month. After that update for Studio Driver, I subsequently performed the Win11 update in question and still lost my default color profile. There's been no further update from NVIDIA, not until June 19th.

Another poster to this thread also reported the same problem as I did. I'm convinced that the prob is that Win11 update.

But it ended well, so 45 minutes of time is all that I lost.
