The Fuji X system is really becoming impressively complete. The recent addition of the 17-40 by Sigma and the incredibly compact 10-18 blend nicely with Fujifilm's own lenses that provide excellent coverage.

For me personally speaking, it leaves only a few gaps in the 70-200 2.8 range, where a modern light aps-c first lens is probably overdue. A mkii H2s with 36mp would be welcome also, but really apart from that and the imminent release of Sigma 12 1.4 it's a pretty good, a mkii 16-80 at the same level as the new 16-50 would also sell like hot cakes!

I generally agree, in my view there a few more lenses Fuji should consider:
  • Fisheye
  • XC UWA zoom - something like a 10-18mm f4-5.6
  • Complete redo of the 10-24 f/4
  • XF 11mm f/2 (+/- 1mm; or f/1.4, or both)
  • Introduce a wider XF standard zoom, like a 13-45mm f/4
  • Update the 18mm f/2
  • Redo the 16-80 f/4
  • XF 16-135mm f/3.5-5.6 (or 6.3 if it means a smaller and lighter lens)
  • XF 27mm f/2
  • XF 70mm f/2 (or f/1.4, or both)
  • Redo the 50-140 in the same manner as the 16-55 II
  • Redo the 55-200 - maybe make it into a 50-180mm f/2.8-4 for a smaller long zoom option
  • Redo the 100-400
  • XF 100-300mm f/4 - or XF 300mm f/4
  • XF 400mm f/4.5
As for the X-H2s mk II, why would it need to be 36 mp? There are no APS-C 36 mp sensor around, and it would only make sense for the manufacturer to create a stacked version of an already available sensor, the 40 mp one.

XC 70-200 F4-5.6, some plastic fantastic and bundle it in two lens kit with entry level bodies.

I have no need for that though, but many newcomers would.

edit:nevermind a similar lens exists.

I think they have a lot more overlap than they do gaps, and for some, way too much overlap in the X system line anyway.

My Fujifilm X-Series Lens Aspirations :
The current lineup of X-series camera bodies, in my opinion, is already outstanding, offering a superb balance of performance, design, and user experience. Further integration of "X-HALF" concepts could undoubtedly elevate them even further, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the camera bodies.

However, if I were to articulate a personal dream for the X-series, it would center around the expansion and refinement of the lens ecosystem. While this is purely a personal wish list, I believe these additions could significantly enhance the versatility and creative potential for many photographers.

My ideal lens roadmap includes:

18mm f/2 WR (Weather Resistant): A compact, weather-sealed wide-angle prime would be an invaluable addition for street photography, landscapes, and everyday shooting in diverse conditions.

27mm f/1.4: This lens, ideally, would capture the legendary rendering and character often associated with classic 35mm f/1.4 lenses, offering a unique blend of modern performance and timeless artistic quality.

16-135mm f/3.5-5.6 WR (Updated Travel Lens): An updated, weather-resistant version of this versatile zoom would be the ultimate travel companion, providing an expansive focal range in a durable package.

70mm f/2: A fast, medium-telephoto prime at this focal length would be excellent for portraits, detail shots, and low-light scenarios, bridging the gap between existing prime offerings.

Updated 50-140mm f/2.8: Refining an already excellent lens, an updated version of the 50-140mm f/2.8 could further solidify its position as a go-to telephoto zoom for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Well, I just think 40mp stacked on aps -c might be a bit of a stretch🤔

I'd be tempted by a wide angle with tilt.

I have long suggested that to fit the Fuji/APS-C design approach of being smaller and lighter combined with excellent image quality a brace of hiking/travel friendly f4 Red Badge zooms would be nice. They'd complement the 16-55f2.8 and 50-140f2.8.

So, 16-55f4 and 50-140f4 Red Badge zooms would be nice (with all that Red Badge means).

The new 16-50f4.8 is so nearly there.

I'm mainly interested in primes and the gap between 56mm and 90mm is obvious so a XF70mm f/2 R WR is a must. I'd also like to see a very compact 100mm f/2.8 prime although I know it would be a bit odd proposition (150mm FF FOV equiv.).

Alternatively, I want to see the Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG Cont. for XF mount.

Would like to see something like a 135 f2. Also a 200 f2.8 would be great for sideline sports. Will probably adapt the canon EF lenses at some point but would prefer native. Otherwise now that the 23 pancake is coming I'm also quite happy with the lens lineup. Works well for how I shoot my Fuji.

But a brand new 36mp sensor that is also stacked is realistic? :-D

If they go F4 it would be an idea to mkii the 16-80 with similar quality optic formula to the 16-50, or even replicate the 2.8-4.8 in a longer/larger lens? The 55-200 updated too would grab a lot of interest too, the current 55-200 is surprisingly compact in reality.
The new 16-50f4.8 is so nearly there.

Surprised Sigma doesn't seem a market with Fuji X for 90 2.8, seems an easy sell!

12, 16, 23, 30, 56 + 90 👌

23 will be a big hit👍 probably would have been nice if they could have gone 1/3 or even 2/3rd stop faster.

Why?
Why indeed. And then suggest a 36 which would have only marginally bigger pixels

Thank you but that is (I think) shift not tilt. I don't need shift.

Hi

I'm new to Fujifilm, with the X-T5 and 16-80 replacing my Pentax system.

I can't see why they'd re-do the 16-80 – it's excellent. Or at least excellent enough even on 40MPix.

How about a mid-budget mid-range tele – say 70-200f/4? It seems the 50-200 was well liked, and then they came out with the 70-300 (same size) and everyone said that's far better so the 50-200 is rubbish. But I'm sure I can't be the only one who doesn't need 300mm on APS-C and would trade it for a bigger and consistent aperture and faster focusing that the 50-200 is reputed to have.

I'd also really like an ultra-compact ultra-wide-angle. Like an AF version of the 7Artisans 10mm f/3.5. I just don't see the need for big apertures at that focal length, as you're never going to get much bokeh, and you can hand-hold as low as 1/4 second with OIS. Oh hang on, you don't need autofocus either as the depth of field is so huge. So I'll just get the 7Artisans.

Paul
