My reader/battery charger/camera are all the same as well. Actually, I do use my HP 1315 to read the memory sticks also.
wait! Umm, well it's both really.

OK OK here it is! I'm going to get in trouble one of these days.
It seems that at work I'm expected to be working, or something!

How's that, a DA picture taken with a DA!

Hi Uly,

I still use your direct access approach.... Bahahahaha

Don
OK, I'll start this one off. I'd like to see your reader, whether
it's part of your PC, stand-alone, or whatever. Let's see how
you're getting your images into your PC!!

Now THAT is what I call a real memory reader!! :-)))

Gotta get one of those installed. I need to find out first if the shaved head is a prerequisite, though.

I do hope I'm not the only one using this slug. Rated at about 2 kilobytes per hour! OK, maybe its slightly faster than that. I am awaiting the day for a new machine, new OS, and USB whatever number it comes with. Actually, I LIKE Win95!

With this draconian device, I can begin a 50MB upload to my machine, go out to lunch, and It'll probably be done when I return.

Go ahead. Laugh. Laugh loudly.

And there goes my milk through the nose.

I didn't think ANYBODY was using one of those. :-)))

Nooooo, I'm just kidding you. It's good to have a reminder of the various options that are available to you.

So what's the deal, however? Is it that you have an aging computer that you don't have a different/faster method? What kind of system exactly are you working on?

Ulysses,

Win95, PII, 400Mhz, It has a USB port, but the bios is too old to actually use it, despite upgraded BIOS drivers. Win95 doesn't support USB fully.

Its not a bad plan. Actually, viruses are written to take advantage of newer OS's & recent Outlook versions. Since I have neither, there's a little less worry. But let me tell you, some PS filters take WAAAY too long.

The other cool thing, is that with the 128MB stick in it, I can transfer huge files (other than photos) from one machine to another.

Actually, I'm with you. There is a LOT to be said for the older machines (Win95 capable at least).

I just sold an older machine to someone. Once reformatted, for a LOT of things, there really wasn't a HUGE and BLINDING difference between it and my newer one, as in moment to moment stuff. Sure other things are quicker, but the person I sold it to doesn't do digital imaging or anything like that. They love it, and the system is clean.

Hi,

I'm about to take the plunge and purchase the F707. This is a question that is a bit of a tangent off the present string. Could anyone post whether you need to purchase a memory stick reader or does it come with a new Sony F707? I have been puzzled by the process of transfering the pics/video from the camera to a computer. Any info would be welcome.

Many thanks.

You can just leave the memory stick in the camera and then connect the camera to your PC with the supplied USB cable.
