Remote Trigger for off-camera flash

Does anyone have experience with a remote flash trigger that works with the sigma fp/fp L via the HU-11? I realise the fp has a rather slow flash sync but I am curious if there's a way to use the camera in a studio set-up with 2 or 3 off-camera flashes. I tried a godox x1 tt-o to trigger a godox tt685ii speedlight but I was unable to get it to work on the fp L.

Thanks

I’ve used optical triggering for my other Sigma cameras including using the small EF-140S but which isn’t very flexible. The SD15 with its built in flash was a rather good wireless trigger and two Sigma FL-630’s can also wirelessly trigger. However I don’t know what protocol would be used with a third party radio trigger so hoping that someone will be able to answer,

Apparently you used a version of that Godox trigger that is designed for Olympus and Panasonic cameras, according to this:

I believe you need to use one that is compatible with a Canon camera. I believe Sigma has always made their flash shoes Canon compatible (probably because Canon was/is the most popular brand of cameras, so they figured there would always be flashes and triggers that would be compatible with them).

Good luck figuring it out.

Yes, I've done that too with the SD14's built-in flash and two EF-500s set to trigger optically.

Thank you for pointing out the canon trigger. I will give this a try; I thought the olympus/Panasonic triggers were the more universal triggers. I will try a trigger compatible with canon's hotshoe.
You need to set the flash to Manual mode. It will then just work with the central contact and you won't be able to use TTL metering. I've done this with the Godox X3 F (Fujifilm) Trigger and single or multiple Godox F flash units.

I've never been able to get a Canon flash to work directly with a Sigma camera but it will work fine with a Canon hot shoe cable - for some reason.

This shot was taken with the above setup.

Once I sold off my Nikon DSLR I was always in multiple camera setups. So I always used "dumb" hot shoe adapters. Just center pin, no TTL.

Which means either the flash needs to be able to meter itself (the Vivitar 285 HV had a thyristor that gave reliable results), or you need to set flash manually.

For off-camera I always used Pocket Wizards.

This seems to be (the upgrade to) the model I use: https://pocketwizard.com/plus-x/

They act as both transmitter and receiver. As a receiver they have a 1/8" cable socket to attach to the strobe - so the strobe needs one of those. Other pocket wizard models have different ways of connecting to strobes.

If you're committed to Godox, then I leave it up to others to supply recommendations.

Hi,

I have used the single pin version and it works to trigger my Godox flash.
