Yes...your site has been very slow of late. My system locked up several times just getting into your site. I was able to go elsewhere (other sites without a problem).

Yes I visit this site daily and yesterday was really bad at times (while other site like yahoo and cnn would still respond instantly). This morning is better but not great. (No problems last night).

I have seen it waiting for the adds for ever... your page does not display until the add gets there. (I use IE 5 as my favorite browser)
But I can't always tell (unless I see it in the bottom status bar)

I just hope this will improve... as it is very frustrating.

This is the fastest that I've experienced. No hiccups or anything. Although I must admit previously the site has been real slow... wahtever changes was made it was for the better (a lot better!)...

Sorry. From where I sit, the site is still painfully slow - going from forum to forum.
At least it doesn't seem to lock up as in the past few days.

Much better for me today too. I usually have to turn off javascript in Netscape in order to be able to visit this site, but today I can leave it on.
My usual problems with javascript on were...

• Blank pages that will not load, or will only load a few K.
• Lockups that require me to turn javascript off and back on, or even reboot.
• Out of position banner ads or duplicates.
• Slow.

Nice and fast today.

I think the problem is very inconsistent. The site just is painfully slow and then 5 minutes later the response is instantaneous (is that a word? or did I just make it up).

Here in the US at 10:30am EST the forums were "locking up" but then at 10:38 AM EST they were as fast as you can click!...
So the problem is intermittant from over here.

That's what I'm experiencing as well.
It either loads, or it doesn't.
And when it doesn't I usually hit "stop"
and then "refresh". I usually have to do
that 2 or 3 times - making reading the
forums lately/today more trouble than what
they're worth.

Same experience with others above. I found that today's a bit better. To really speed up, I just opened another Windows application on the side (e.g., Word, Excell, etc.) and click back and forth a few times between DPReview and that other application. I could always speed up the page loading.

My experience has been that Netscape is always fast, and Internet Explorer
is always slow and prone to just sitting and spinning on a page with the
left menu loaded, but otherwise blank.

The culprit seems to be "Contacting host... jeeves.flycast.com"

And it seems that Netscape will process other parts of the page while
waiting, but that IE5 sits and twiddles its thumbs while Jeeves takes
his own sweet time to respond before it will display the rest of the
page.

Is this consistent with what other people are experiencing?

Today is much much better..using cable modem connection. Last evening at 10:30PM EST in US, site was unusable.

I turned off all the Java and ActiveX scripting nonsense in Internet Explorer 5
and the web pages just fly now. Everything loads immediately. I've lost the

menu in the upper left corner of DPReviews home page, but everything else seems to work. It's interesting that all the graphics seem to load fast and Java

is what's gumming up the works. I thought the Java script files were smaller than the image files.
