I'm curious..I open a raw file from my camera in lightroom make a few adjustments and crop in the develope module then go to the print module and print. My question is this ..is my raw file somehow changed to a tiff or jpg before it is printed? I didn't think you could print a raw file?...Bob

Yes, that is the huge advantage of LR. It allows you to keep only your original RAW files on hand and converts it to the appropriate format on the fly for printing,e-mail, web, etc. There is no longer any need for retaining both a JPEG and RAW copy.

That is one reason why draft printing is recommnended for contact sheets. Rather than render all of the small images it just uses the smaller JPEG previews it already has in a file.

What format is the photo printed in in lightroom is it kept as a raw file or is somehow changed to a tiff or jpg....Bob

Actually LR is a nondestructive editor. This means all modifications that you make are made to aXML sidecar file. If printing it takes the raw data from the original file adds the changes that you do in the develope and library panelsand prints it. It does not make a new file per say. It uses the info andprints it from the info in the memory and casche.
