Poll - S2 Postview vs Preview

Hi all, I was just curious how you guys usualy set it ? just curious ...

I guess that most use "preview" ... btw, at beginning I though that postview would save more battery power because of using less LCD but I guess I am wrong - the power saving from NOT writing some of the the pictures (especially on raw) is greater than the extra waist on LCD.
Note: Power is not the problem, I know I can put it "off"

I use POstview otherwise the image is not automatically saved. I believe with preview you must choose whether or not to save image.

Preview is a waste in my opinion. You don't have very long to decide if you want to "keep" the picture. As Thom noted in his guide Fuji really shouldn't have used the term "preview". It is very misleading. My first (incorrect) assumtion was that the photo would be saved either way. They quick start guide didn't emphasize this too much.

IMO, it is a pain to have to push the save button in preview mode. I changed mine to postview and that's where it will stay, regardless of battery life.

Having to OK every image is just a pain. But if you want to review the image after it is shot (pan or zoom) you still have to hit play after the postview goes off screen. I think you should be able to set the time of the postview.

I leave it set in Post view just so I can glance and quickly tell if I was in the ballpark, or accidental goofed a setting. Half the time I don't even look at it. Power isn't a concern.

I'm a postview guy. Fact is I save them all. I don't even take the time to delete. I'll get it off the card later.

I usually look at mine by pressing play but don't have the camera do it automatically.

I don't trust (other than ballpark viewing) the LCD to really tell me what the shot looks like. I'd rather wait and see it on a large screen and decided then to keep or delete. And since I shoot raw most of the time there's a lot of color and exposure problems that can be fixed in the conversion process.
(I use Fujii EX converter and Justrightclick thumbnail viewer)

Postview exclusively. I just want to automatically write everyt shot right to the storage card. I can cull out the clunkers back at the computer.

My second day I took some "apparently" good shots in preview mode....and found out that none of the shots were written. Preview is a dangerous mode.

Otherwise, either I do not remember to save the picture or I have it showing and wasting batteries for long time. I prefer just to check the histogram after pictures I know have hard lighting.

I use post cause it is 2 easy to kill your shot by forgetting to save it.... If you are in a studio setting pre should work fine... BUT dont use it for action/on the run shooting where you cant retake the shot..

Hey John,

A good one should be balanced, low at both right and left and high in the middle. Anyway, and since that is got only once in a while (I do not get it that often), what I check is that it's not high on the right side, to make sure nothing is blown out. Shadow recovery is pretty easy with the S2, at least shooting RAW as I mostly do.

Also very useful would be for preview (with histogram) to default to "save" UNLESS you press the delete button.

Since postview doesn't include a histogram, I leave it off and just hit play.

As long as we're at it, I'd really like the histogram to stay on when you move from one shot to the next in playback mode.
