Poll MarkIII

In what indoor sport do you see photographers running around the game?

I do know what you are referring to and there is no question 300 f/2.8 is one of the finest sport lenses. However, in practice, especially indoors a zoom still is the tool of choice. If Canon had an equivalent to Sigma's 120-300 (which is not a shabby lens at all) you'd be all over it.

PS: loved your bird photos. Great stuff

Never had the sub-mirror fix - but on latest firmware - but will admit first 1D model though much ,much better than 30D on AF to date.....

Today arrived 1D Mark III serial number 564 from the first tests with 300f4 l and 400 is f 5.6 L in ai sevo no problem, for now I am very happy.
Greetings!

Why not use the zoom on the Nikon D3 as it seems to be better for
that body and get a 300mm f2.8LIS for the 1dmk3 I can assure you your
pics will improve immensely,
...For this, I would also bet the sky and the moon. Exactly my thought, though, which would have probably been cheaper than the D3+low_cost zoom, altogether (thus ending up with an WONDERFUL piece of glass, such as the 300 f/2.8... (putting aside the zoom-flexibility, though).

If my photography is screwed up...it should be MY fault.
NOT the fault of a camera that doesn't function properly.

In this case, I am at the mercy of this camera's random whim.
Not good.
I understand that speaks enough of this Mark III, I want to make a
survey of how many people are happy, and how many unhappy with this
camera, and what are the first 3-digit code serial, to see if there
have been improvements during a ' year.
Greetings!

Excellent IQ, great out doors, highlight priority is really welcome but the focusing is not trustworthy indoors in low light, strong back light or low contrast situations (weddings). In for service. This was marketed as a wedding shooter's camera. My particular camera fails this, but erratically, not always.

My 1Ds3 exhibits NONE of the failures of the 1D3. Perhaps I should trade the 1D3 for another 1Ds3.... A pretty expensive solution but cheaper than switching brands with lenses, flash units, etc. I would go with a new 5DII if, and only if, it matches the specs of the new D700. I REALLY need a 1D3, not another 1Ds3, for the majority of my shooting, but one that has an AI Servo that works indoors.

although as insurance when I sell it, I had the mirror fix done this week. Service was great (got the camera back in six days) and they provided a letter which gave me an additional year of warranty. I've got no complaints and feel they've more than lived up to my expectations.
