I never was dissatisfied with the camera, but sent it in for "the fix" anyway (did it during a lull in the wedding season). I've used the camera both for sports as well as weddings and portraits. I'm quite pleased with its performance.
 
Tuesday, comes my second markIII with serial number 565 hope will be better than my first 522
 
Had one of the first 1DMkIII's in So. Florida. 502xxx. Was never ready to dump it altho had a few throw-aways. After the sub-assembly fix and firmware update, I am very happy with this camera. Would love to get the 1DsMkIII also. Maybe next year.
