OM-1 Firmware 1.6 released

https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/...m-camera-user-you-need-to-read-this-right-now

is this the real reason for the 1.6 update?

"We ask that you please update your camera before updating your macOS. By updating to the firmware version released today, the camera update function will be changed so that firmware updates can be performed even in future macOS environments."
I tried to install the 1.6 Firmware update using OM Workspace on my MacStudio, that runs on Sonoma 1.14.1.

Unable to do the update, when I click "Camera", I get a failure message, OM Digital Solutions does not have access authority. I tried to fix this but to no avail. Suggestions on the OM Digital Solutions web page to overcome this are somewhat outdated. In the Security&Privacy page of my System Settings page, I don't see a "General" tab. I do see something very similar that is mentioned in the outdated instructions "Allow apps downloaded from: (radio button 1: ) "App Store" and (radio button 2:) "App Store and identified developers", what I don't see is a button "Allow" next to "System software from developer 'OM Digital Solutions Corporation' was blocked from loading".

Anyone any ideas how I can update my firmware using my MacStudio or do you suggest I use the OI Share app on my iPad?

Fingers crossed.... Started OI Share to update the Firmware. Noticed the 300mm F4.0 IS Pro also has new firmware. Whilst I'm at it, will update that too.

Attached a MC-14 to my 300mm about a week ago. It has not come off since. Yes, I did run in to AF issues and yes I'm extremely curious about this Firmware 1.6 Magic...

There is no magic.

I had long birding session today with my updated OM1 and 300f4 pro + 1.4x convertor and I found absolutely no difference in autofocus of birds in flight, birds in bushes or anything else. What did change was that although my settings were automatically saved and then automatically loaded back after the update was completed, my C1,2,3 &4 settings have had shutter speeds reset to 1/640. I have had to check and reset each C to how it was before the update, which caused some irritation out in the field.

It is interesting that Custom banks in some cameras were all reset to 1/320, or all to 1/250 (mine, IIRC), or all to 1/640 (yours). I wonder if it depends on something like what was set in the last-used non-Custom mode? It's a bug in any case but seems like there must be an explanation for it.

This is pure guessing. However, if 1.6 release was precipitated by the changes to MacOS, it may have shortened the testing and packaging cycle, which could have lead to some bugs slipping by.

Mine were reset to 1/250, the default for S and P modes and my Custom modes were S mode. I am guessing that the ones reset to 1/320 had SH2 at 25 fps and the the 1/640 had SH2 set for 50 fps.

I am sure I'm an oddball here, but some of my best bird photos were taken with the EM1.2 and the 50-200 SWD in S-AF mode. Subject detection in the OM1 is awesome, and I do love C-AF accuracy, but none of us need it to be creative.

Can't argue with that.

Yes, well, there used to be a list showing the latest available lens updates. I couldn't find it anymore. How are we now supposed to know if a lens has an available update, without attaching every one of our lenses to the camera and separately running it through OMWS?

Bingo, that's exactly it.
