Not working G2 out of the box once again ...

Add me to the ( getting to be ) long list of upset G2 purchasers who had serious problems with the camera within a few weeks of purchase .... I only wish I had read these forums before buying.

Do both the Black and Silver G2's have this problem?

Yes.
Both colors have been reported for this stuck control problem.
