I was updating AI in LrC and my Win10 system crashed - for the first time -several white and blue screens. After several self-diagnostic and repair (DMA violation was one) it finally fixed itself and booted normally.

I realized I don’t have a recovery disk and am creating one on a USB drive as I’m writing. Also made sure restore points were enabled.

What else should i do to protect myself besides a recovery disk? My files are backed up on an external drive.

TIA,,,

Win11?
I’ve never bothered with a recovery disk. If a computer suffers a TIA*, I transfer the data disk to a spare computer and carry on. On the rare occasions that I’ve had a system crash, it’s been time to upgrade the hardware and reload the OS + Programs.

* Medical terminology. ;-)

*Thanks In Advance

The recovery drive is now on my USB drive and I feel safer in case of a boot failure. Not much bother…

It had something to do with LR, I think. It was updating a big AI adjustment. The system has been completely stable, never had a crash. But the exact cause is beyond me. It did fix itself after a while.

Well, what does the acronym stand for?

Haha - it was not that bad - just a short mini-stroke, totally recovered. :-)
