Is this too slow for video processing?

Massive thanks to everyone in the forums I posted my message on about my PC rendering videos too slowly.

Been overwhelmed by the incredible help and responses from so many knowledgeable people.

I am not sure I have identified a single cause of the issue as it might be multiple but

Rendering 50fps 4k video does seem to be resource hungry

Downsizing large JPEGS in the slideshow to the output size would have helped

Using lots of transitions and effects in the slideshow appears to take up a lot of rendering time (and there are many)

A dedicated SSD drive would be preferable rather than the 5400rpm mechanical drive I use.

I need to make sure that I have all the correct settings for rendering etc to ensure best performance

I need to consider whether the Magic Edit program is actually a little slow. (alternative editing program such as Resolve or Power Director)

Are all drivers up to date......

And a host of other issues, some technical ones which to be honest I could not really understand.

However it seems that this post has been helpful because someone in one forum suggested bookmarking because of all the information provided by friends here so, as there is so much from each forum, here are the links to each so people can look if they wish.

I would therefore just like to say that this has demonstrated the fantastic camaraderie and help in DPR and the willingness of so many to come to the aid of others who have problems to solve....it has been absolutely fantastic....

A massive thanks to all for their fantastic help.

To finish, my videos are only for fun and home use...they are definitely not technically good etc but I enjoy doing them...they are always of Maria and her horse Bailey.

On this occasion Maria has been invited to ride for another lady who has some fantastic horses and the lesson was dressage, so not a lot of action, but a need to record how they moved to review later.
Unlike those where she is eventing or show jumping, it is a very slow moving video, just a record of the day etc....but serves our purpose

The slideshow starts at 9 minutes 45.

Here is a link if you would like to see.

Once again...many thanks to all

Great video, Ray.

Maria will be very pleased with this.

I will begin to study Resolve as it is not as limiting as most consumer grade video software.

It's always nice to know that if you want to do some advanced editing it's possible in Resolve.

Many thanks Toermalijn...

I think the slideshow could tone down a bit but it gives an indication of the processing that had to be done....

Resolve looks an awesome program although no authoring facility which is a shame....

Some of what it can do though is amazing.....

Hope you enjoy trying it.

Best wishes

An update for everyone who has been so helpful...

As you know I previously enquired about the issue of video rendering very slowly.

First of all: a correction....I have only 32GB DDR 4 ram...NOT 64 GB as I typed.

However, the query was

I am exporting to Hard Drive a 50fps 4K video with a photograph slideshow, in total about 11.5minutes long, which I have created in Magix Movie Editor 2019.

The video is about 9.5 minutes long and 2 minutes of slides.

Approximate output size is 1.7GB.

The render time was in excess of 4 hours.

I have now put Power Director 18 on my PC and created an almost identical video.....

It took just under 18 minutes to render, albeit with a larger output file of 3.8GB!!!!!!!

The issue therefore seems to be with Magix, which is ridiculously slow compared to Power Director.....

Now I need to learn Power Director which seems to have a lot of feature on it and was so fast to render....in fact the whole process seemed so much faster.

So just wanted to let friends her know what has happened and again thank everyone for their kind help.

Best wishes

Hi Ray,

I would suggest downloading a free trial version of PTE AV Studio 10 Pro and trying it to test the video rendering capabilities.

There is nothing wrong with Power Director but it's not a slideshow program it's a non-linear video editor and as such there are many things which slideshow software can do that can't be done at all and many other things which are quite difficult with a video editor. PTE (PTE AV Studio 10 Pro) is a superb presentation slideshow product and is by far the number one in the world used by Audio Visual competitors professionally. Probably worth you checking it out. Many thanks Lin
