WOW. That definitely sounds like Canon does NOT plan to lead, but rather follow. Let other manufacturers test where the demand may be.
That interview opened my eyes to Canon in a very negative way.

about the only thing the MILC "consortium" is leading is the path to getting out of the camera business altogether.
Fuji .. no real profits surrounding MILC's (their imaging group even states the majority of their sales are from sensor imaging and not cameras)
Sony - IP&S profits are from Professional Video, not from cameras.
Olympus may have created an "on paper" profit .. but has nearly 5 months of inventory in the chain to dump.
Meanwhile - canon and Nikon continue to drive over 75% of the ILC market with MILC's simply being like a small annoying poodle. makes a lot of noise, everything thinks it's cute, but at the end of the day - hardly anyone gets one.
