I have a desktop and a laptop, both running Win11 with the same language and region settings.

On my desktop Epson Print Layout has been showing a list of paper sizes which is basically useless in Europe, while my laptop is showing a nicely sorted list of sensible paper sizes. Which setting did I miss that is causing EPL to misbehave on my desktop?

Solved it indeed by driver replacement. Annoyingly enough this cannot be done by simply running the correct driver installer, but I had to uninstall the old one first. Which required removing the printer from the Windows Devices, which lead to having to add it again after installing the correct driver, which now leads to issues with finding the printer through VPN. I had it all working, but now I need to go through that mess again 🙃 I'm pretty sure I solved it by forcing it to use the IP address in the port list...
Well, that failed. The printer is found by Windows, can test print, check ink levels etc via the Monitoring applet, but EPL doesn't see the printer anymore. VPN doesn't matter, nor the port selection. I also tried...
I cannot say with absolute confidence but I read something a while back that inferred that if you download EPL from the UK/EU site it will display A series etc sizes.

But if you download and install the .com USA site versions it will display USA sizes

NB an influencing factor might also be the source EU vs USA of the printer driver ?

Hope that gives food for thought and a couple of things to cross check and determine a cause?

Your desktop has a US driver. Remove it and install it from the Epson site local to where you are (e.g. UK/GB if you are in the UK).

That was my first thought, so I reinstalled it using the EU version. No difference.

I did get a bit further, but it is taking a lot of digging into Windows system files.

The issue is with the printer driver, which should indicate which paper sizes it knows and can handle. So it's not an EPL issue. Somehow I must have different driver versions on both systems.

I did now find out that drivers are stored here: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and that printer drivers have corresponding .gpd files which contain the list I'm looking for. So I could give it one more try to uninstall the driver fully from my system and reinstall, or I could simply replace the .gpd file on my desktop with the one from my laptop. I'll give it another try tonight.

Yes a driver issue, I suggest you download the driver again but make sure it is from the UK website, as echoed by the other poster.

Any suggestions on this?

EDIT: SOLVED

More weird things happened. I noticed I could select a different (custom) preset in the top right menu, other than "Current Settings". This would show the/a printer, with a paper size list. But this was still the old list (!). When selecting any option it would still show the error that no paper was selected. I tried importing some custom settings, and noticed the Reset button. That forced EPL to reload all printer driver info and fixed the issue. So there are some settings or driver references that are not neatly removed from EPL even when EPL is uninstalled via its own installer.

Be glad you are not on a Mac trying to print from an application like Photoshop, Pixelmator, Affinity Publisher, or Capture One. Especially if you want to use advanced layout options like n-up and related printer / binder marks. Some are forgotten immediately after printing every sheet, some are reset to other values. Capture One is a special treat, it will present you with two sets of almost identical dialogs at which point you'll say "I'd rather be carving lino with a rubber duck..." ;-) Not sure what the situation is with Canon, but printing on a Mac using Epson printers is a "choose your own misadventure". EPL is the best choice for single prints, anything that requires advanced layout like printing book signatures for binding is very unstable.

Something wrong with your installation. Uninstall, download again and install once again if you want a full list of papers. I have EPL installed on both my desktop and laptop (HP Elite Desk W11 pro and HP Spectre W11 Home) computers and they both show the same list.
