Don't know if I missed the sarcasm here, but anyway:I do not understand why RAW is used. I do understand that it is and takes a large file, 25+MB. Why?
The reason it is large is because it contains a lot more information in each pixel. Simply put, 4096 levels of intensity rather than 256 in a jpg (a lot more complicated than that, because it is the raw sensor data and doesn't really consist of pixels but photo sites with a single color)
No one that bothers carrying around a dSLR should shoot jpg IMHO. A waste.
