Hello everybody

I come from a Fuji X-T2 and X-T30Ii and switched to a fuji XS20.

I’ve noticed some differences which I’m not sure if they are only software or a consequence of a different hardware. Let’s see if I can explain myself:

Point 1:

- on the xt30II, I had a button assigned for “select custom settings”, where I had 7 different recipes. Choosing any of them didn’t change the shooting mode I was in, because it only depended if the shutter dial was on A or in any shutter speed, as well as the aperture ring on the lens. Meaning that if I was shooting, let’s say in M mode, I could switch recipes, independently, and if I wanted to change from M to A, I could do it without changing the custom settings (recipes).

With the xs20 , I can’t assign the custom settings to a button, since the four available (from the previous 7 on older cameras) are on the PSAM dial, so as a consequence, I can either be in a custom mode or in a shooting mode: if I’m in c4, for instance and shooting in aperture priority, if I want to change to M, I need to get out of c4 (or go inside the custom mode c4 and change the shooting mode on the menu and save the edit to the recipe).

Its really difficult to explain what I mean, before I could chose a recipe and shoot in any mode M, A or S, or be in M, for instance and chose any recipe (custom setting), now I can’t change from A to M without coming out of the custom setting.

Point 2:

I also realized that if I have a recipe in c slot and change the film simulations with the dial on the top left, they seem to overlap the colours… instead of the film simulation taking precedence…

I really enjoy the camera, but I don’t know if there’s a work around for point 1 and a solution for point 2?

I’m sorry if my explanation is a bit confusing, but English is not my native language.

thank you very much

André

Assuming you have the Function dial set to Film Simulations (recipes), than you can change them using this dial while in C1-C4, or P,SA,M modes. If you have the Custom settings Auto Update Disabled, then the Film sims will be retained when switching modes or turning off the camera. Changing a Fillm Sim in any of the PSAM modes will change it for all of them at the same time so you can switch from a P,S,A or M without losing your set Film Sim and the last Fim Sim will be retained when the camera is switched off.

Simply set to M and set your parameters that will be retained when the camera is turned off or the Mode dial selection is changed,
Its really difficult to explain what I mean, before I could chose a recipe and shoot in any mode M, A or S, or be in M, for instance and chose any recipe (custom setting), now I can’t change from A to M without coming out of the custom setting.

The Film Sim colors do not overlap. The Film Sim will be whatever you set it to.
I really enjoy the camera, but I don’t know if there’s a work around for point 1 and a solution for point 2?

I have answered your questions as I understand them. I hope this helps.

Hi Jonikon

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I think these are just teething problems which will be solved once I get used to the new system.

Anyway, your replies are definitely food for thought.

best regards

André
