Frustrations in RAW processing from T1i

') For those of you who remember wordprocessing apart from Word. There were other good programs (WordPerfect, WordStart 2000).
This last one got a great big grin from me. I have used many word processors and remember huge debates about them. Fond memories there. I was a big WordPerfect fan and I was sad to see it crushed.

"What does "almost without processing" mean? Is there some processing?

What does "do not contain 'ready to view picture'" mean? Because my RAW + JPEG L files look almost the same in DPP, right out of the camera, and the RAW certainly seems ready to view.
You're not viewing the raw, you're viewing an image created from it. Raw is like a musical score. A score describes the music, but you can't listen to the page of squiggles itself. Someone has to play the music for it to be heard, and each player will make it sound different. Same with raw - something has to turn it into an image for it to be seen.
I didn't write the stuff in quotes - I was quoting it and responding to it. Just a technical point.
You wrote "the RAW certainly seems ready to view"? I was quoting it and responding to it. Just a technical point. :-)
