For those wondering if their CPU will get Spectre/Meltdown Fix (aka Microcode updates) see this Intel PDF File... Microcode Revision Guidance: April2 2018.

For the TL;DR folks, I'll just list the top 5 processors that aren't scheduled to be updated:
There are others listed as well, notably Wolfdale and Yorkfield.

Peace:)

This is fantastic if so.

Initially, it didn't look like Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge or Haswell would get patched. I have several wonderful computers of that era. I still think the Haswell, in particular, is a great chip.

If you're on windows, there's a utility to ID CPUs called CPU-Z
I saw the question differently thus my answer. Anyway, yeah, CPU-Z will tell you which processor you have...

CPU-Z showing my Intel Core i7-7600K Processor info

Along with a host of other info like motherboard and memory info. BTW there's also an app called GPU-Z for graphic cards.

Look kid, there’s the beginning and the end; all that stuff in the middle is positioning for where you finish.

This forum as well as the internet needs a sarcasm font.

I've used CPUID stuff for many years. Back when I was trying to eek out maximum performance I used to use their HWMonitor software to monitor temps. It's good stuff.

You guys are still using them? Amazing.

I'm not. My current systems running are Haswell and Kaby lake.... still supported. I do have a system with an i7-950 (Bloomfield) inside it but it's currently shelved for now.

Agree :)

Yeah, I've used both those as well. Now use Aida64 as my fine details app. And CPU-Z as my simple details app.

I know its amazing my DEll XPS 9000 9XX is running still like new for two years at my house and 6 years at my shop as my POS system.

Sandy Bridge is still in production (hasn’t stopped) but Sony isn’t making Vaios anymore so I may still be out of luck in getting microcode for my Vaios. :-(

I’ll be contacting Sony.

Hmmm.... it shows here on Vaios (Sony's) US site they're still selling Vaios - New VAIO® S (scroll to the bottom to see the specs - Windows 10 Pro, i5 - i7; 8-16gig of RAM; 256-1TB SSD drive)

I too thought they were out of the market but Apparently they've had a turnabout. You can even find them on Amazon!

Anyway, yeah, see what Sony has to say?
