What do you have against redheads? :-) You should have filled the wine glass.

TB, I AM a Red Head myself. LOL. But in this case, her head was really messed up. LOL

And, I like Blondes. :) My Wife is a Blonde.

P.S. You never FILL a wine glass to the top. :)

Raw has been processed 2 times, fist as is with default settings, second with a little touch-up that focused on the face (noise reduction applied too)

Also, I will try to produce a similar sampling with SilkyPix for comparison

If you want to be equal, you have to be better...

This is a SilkyPix 2 photos that follow previous pattern (first under default settings, second with a little touch-up)

Here are raw to jpeg conversions by ACDSee, AffinityPhoto2, & DigiKam. No further processing beyond opening the raw file.

If you have the time & inclination could you process a RAW file from the Panasonic FZ 50 provided by Imaging Resource? I have been toying with the idea of getting this camera...

https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/panasonic-zs50/ZS50INBI0080.RW2.HTM

I gave ON1 2025.1 a try.

However, it is always a matter of taste how to do the post-processing. I used only standard procedures - no sophisticated tools ON1 offers, too.

I changed from standard:

Brilliant AI: at 71, Flora 19, Persons: 41

Exposure: +0.4

Contrast: 38

Lights: -34

Mean: 4

Depth: 19

White: -2

Black: 9

Structure:13

Color Temperature: 2809

Tone: 4

Saturation: 0

Vivid: 1

It is the idea of post-processing to tweak the settings to its optimum. This would be close to mine.

I once started a similar contest with a photo I gave for post-processing to the community many years ago. It ended without useful result. If you managed to understand your software, you will most likely get best results with this one.

Best regards,

Holger

Thats not a human, but some kind of exhibition doll?
That is a doll of a test scene where cameras were tested. The aim was to take always the same scene with the same light and be able to compare performance of cameras. It is different from the test scene we have on dpreview, which covers more situations - however with less depth within the room.

ON1 - II

No special approach, one-step Luminance NR 65/ Enhance detail 37/ Microsharpening 100.

You can get pretty much whatever you want out of any of these Raw editors, it's really just knowing what you want, and how to go about doing it. As you can see, many different outcomes are possible from the same software. Some of the dark/crunchy versions are quite unnatural to my eyes. This would be my quickie rendering in Lightroom - older version, no A.I. NR, Very basic adjustment only (and only basic adjustment needed)...

Just plain old Lightroom.

Just plain old Lightroom.

There is nice colour & detail in the jacket but some shadow noise around the face

Well, I used very little NR, but it looks plenty clean and natural to me (and is a good bit brighter). Newer Lightroom's A.I. NR would make deliver significantly better detail and no noise to worry about (and at very high ISOs too),

When it comes to RAW processing it's always about personal taste.

I doubt that I can do any better than that which has already been done. But, there is one very big nit-picking area that has apparently been missed as everyone has apparently been looking at the big picture, rightfully so. But, how about the blown button on her left pocket? Easily fixed, but overlooked.

All I did was clone the button to the left over the blown button.
