Hello.

What do you use to deliver finished files?
I ask because I have used WeTransfer for a number of years. But I find it to be a little bit too expensive for what is offers and the free option is too limiting.

I used my own server in the past, but I find it to be to time consuming to maintain a library there and the WeTransfer where so much easier.

I also find that Integrated options like DropBox and OneDrive does not fit my workflow.

So the Drag and Drop option like WeTransfer is really what I'm looking and I can see that there are many alternatives. And I dont mind paying at all, just that I want a financial balance that makes sense 12£ per month is too much in my opinion.

So, my question is really.. What are you using and why?

Merci.

P.S.: Im usually sending packages of 1-3 GB and deliver about 10 times a month (plus sending smaller packages.. and I maxed out two free WeTransfer accounts this month.

My choice of file transfer software also depends on the ease that clients can download the files, some struggle with Google Drive, so I then switch to WeTransfer.

I have been using Business Google, which allows me to use my own domain with GMail and the Google suite. Have been using Google Drive for a long time, I find I can better organise my files with folders.

Upload speeds are okay for both. But WeTransfer allows multiple uploads at the same time, which i find quicker than the queing system on Google Drive.

Both are expenses for my business.

Adobe photography comes with 1TB for 12USD/mth + you get LR and PS.

Are you a working photographer? If yes, then the adobe package is probably the best deal.

there are obviously others like Hightail, SendAnywhere, etc. all have their pros and cons, you just have to do some research.

Stating the obvious, many are free to try up to a certain storage amount, so although most of the popular ones have been mentioned here, you probably just have to do your own trials and see what you like and dislike.

Merci.

I just use my website account. I create a stand-alone web page (not linked to the actual website so a person can only access it with a direct link) and put a picture gallery up with the full res photos. This way they can use the page to view/show the photos, but I also put a link to directly download all the photos as a single zip file so they don't have to manually click and download each file.

It works well as it keeps the customer-facing presentation consistent (same page layout and look as my public website) and it just uses some of the un-used space I already have available from my website service provider.

I have used WeTransfer in the past, but for the past seven months I have been delivering through https://photodeck.com. I’ll be moving my rebuilt portfolio, which if all goes well will go live (fingers crossed!) to PhotoDeck in about six weeks.

Thanks, this might be what I need :)

Smugmug is another option since you can generate ZIP files yourself or leave a download all button on the gallery for clients. The downsides there are limited design options, and that they also just raised their prices. But 210/year still is cheaper than most and they have unlimited storage though not for RAW files and you need to pay separately for that.

These days, if the digital product (a set of photos or videos I am delivering) is really large I'll ask if they'd like a Thumb drive or an SSD. If they choose SSD, I offer them the option to buy the drive or to return it.

Yeah.. actually you are right.. this would just go in business, this is peanuts.. its more of a principle I guess of not paying headless for a bunch of subscriptions.

Yeah Im a working photographer

A year ago I made a switch to DxO/Affinity not because of price (i think adobe is better value tbh) but because of general unhappiness with adobe over a number of years.. first premiere stability, later PS had a number of bugs that it took adobe WAY to long to iron out.. considering their size.. but the icing was their arrogancy towards criticism of the subscription plan.. not the price, the maze of opting out that where criticised.. A year in.. out actually.. I'm pretty happy with DxO.

But it would be super ironic if now the best valued plan for a delivery option is infect adobe cloud.. and it sure looks like it is.. ha ha.. I might cave in. Its cheaper than WeTransfer and easier to manage than DropBox and Google Drive, slightly.. in my opinion.

This is true. But I have to admit that I think I look a bit amateurish in the eyes of my costumers when every other link comes from SMASH.COM then, SWISSTRANSFER.. then back to WETRANSFER a few days later.. right ;)

Merci.

I checked it out a bit more in-depth and the base plan of 10£ is fair, but the 10gb is too little and the 21£ option is too much compared to adobe cloude for example.

You can create folders in iCloud storage and share them with invited guests. iCloud+ with 2TB is $9.99/month. The only hitch is that Windows users will have to download iCloud for Windows to share files and folders.

Although I have 2TB with an Apple One family plan, I often overlook this option because I got in the habit long ago of using Box.com (I have a grandfathered 50GB free account from the early days) when I don't feel like uploading to my website, mainly for sharing with second-shooters. Delivery to clients is always via my website.

Thanks for the tip, jacques!

Hi, I wouldn't say amateurish, but something the clients are not familiar with. Yes I know others have recommended their own website links, but I found from clients they sometimes scratched their heads how to download the files.

Actually I haven't utilised/used the 1TB adobe cloud part with the PS +LR package. But I would pay anyway as I need PS, which really with the AI content fill I use to often now. I think because there are so many tools in PS, it is scary to use it and can feel too complex to use, but once you understand the layering it is really good in my opinion. It's probably the industry standard for photo editing software, but I know some experienced photogs still haven't learnt to use it properly and they outsource difficult editing.

Merci.

Hi, I wouldn't say amateurish, but something the clients are not familiar with. Yes I know others have recommended their own website links, but I found from clients they sometimes scratched their heads how to download the files.
There's the little icon of an arrow pointing into a box, which is the standardized icon for downloading (look at the upper right corner of your Chrome browser.) And a line of text that says, "Download entire album."

I've never had anyone confused by it.

Hi, just figured I'd chime in on this. I'm a freelance part-time wedding shooter and I've been using Wetransfer to send the completed jobs (5-6gbs ea) to the studio for years and years at US$12/mo.

Well last month they raised the "Ultimate" unlimited plan to US$25/mo......like wow, out of nowhere, and although it is a business expense for me as well, it's just like....I still have to pay double each month out of pocket and needless to say, not happy about such a big increase.

Long and short, I cancelled my unlimited plan and went with the "Starter" plan, $10/mo.

According to what Wetransfer says about this plan, I can send or receive 300gb per month. Have no shoots right now until March, and with anywhere from 2-5 shoots per month for the next 8 months, I think this plan should work out.

I tried Google Drive, didn't like it. Used Dropbox many years ago, looked at it again....still don't like it. The interface/use-ability of Wetransfer, for me and for my workflow, is the simply the best and I wanted to keep using it.

Hope something works out for you.

Sounds familiar, with the dropbox and google drive opinion. For now ill use swisstransfer till that is not free or becomes a hurdle in one way or another.

What do I use and why?

Let's start with the fact that my business is new in 2025, and I'm focused on family, portraiture, youth sports, engagement, graduation, etc. I'm lucky in that I got to pick and choose relatively recently on what I felt was the best option to delivery quality galleries, and wasn't stuck with something that I selected years ago. Truthfully, I'm a long time Smugmug user, but CSS simply isn't my thing and I jumped ship to Squarespace for my new site. It feels.....more current and polished, something I think my clients are looking for.

I consider it exceptionally important that all client facing items are aesthetically pleasing and gallery delivery is the last impression you get to make, so I opted for Pic-Time. It's simple to use, super clean, integrates with Lightroom and can auto generate your blog (including text!), has built in ecommerce, and the ability to set markup prices. It also has email templates, gallery templates, auto generates slideshows, allows for multiple scenes, vendor integration and LOTS more. I'm in awe how well it makes me look when the client gets the email.....seriously, it's truly stunning.

Granted, I don't know much about the other options in here, but I'm confident I chose the right option for my business.

As far as pricing , it's somewhere between $0-42/month, but the professional plan is $21/month, so only $250 a year.....one photoshoots profit covers it, and I'm good with that.

Most of my (institutional) event clients opt to receive only web-resolution (2048px) files optimized for social media, so downloads don't really take very long. They can always come back to me later for print-rez files if needed.

Same here.

So the client - or the people who are creating their ads or who are handling their websites, etc - can therefore download the images at any time during the agreed 'Period of use' that they have paid for, from a page on my website that would look like this:

On Zenfolio, I’ve created boilerplate contracts for various uses and attached those to particular purchase categories (personal use as screensaver, for social media, etc.), so that when folks purchase they are unavoidably presented with the terms of use.
