Hi Everyone,

This is the official thread for Challenge 94.

First I would like to thank KT and all those who contributed to Challenge 93:
"A Place Called Home"

If you haven't already done so, please visit the results thread for Challenge 92 before reading further.

===================================================
I have now the pleasure to present the new Challenge:

Challenge 94 is all about "Communication"

===================================================

Communication is defined as a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, expressions or behavior.

Based on this simple definition, only imagination is the limit. It can be communication between people, animals, machines, communication facilities, communication event... you name it.

Everything goes here as long as it has clear communication elements or ideas in it and what's great about it, you can find it everywhere you go.

To make things simple, I'm using the same open and close times as the previous challenge (#93).

Challenge 94 is open from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday June 04 2005 in your own time zone, and will run until 6:00 p.m. UTC (GMT) on Tuesday June 14 2005. Universal time tables will be posted in the galleries. A separate voting thread will be posted upon close of entries.

--- GUIDELINES ---

These guidelines are meant to help things run smoothly for all... Please read them carefully.
  • Up to three (3) images are allowed in each of the two galleries (Eligible and Exhibition). Each photographer can choose whether to enter one or more photos per gallery. This should generally accommodate everyone's personal style and approach to the Challenges whatever works best to give the "challenge" more fun and appeal to you.
  • PLEASE RESIZE your images to no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side before uploading to PBase (though it can be larger in the case of a panoramic image). This cuts down on too much bandwidth and storage use, and it helps to preserve the quality of your image upload for best viewing.
  • Please post your questions and concerns within this thread for the most efficient response. I or one of the regulars will address them as soon as possible.
  • Eligible images must be taken with a Sony digital camera, and within the challenge time period. The winner of the Eligible category will host the next Challenge. All Eligible entries need to include a date indicating when the photo was taken. EXIF data include this automatically, and the photographic info provided is useful to viewers for a variety of reasons beyond just eligibility. If the EXIF data are not preserved in the image as uploaded, just include the main items in your caption (by referring to the original photo's EXIF data that should be available before doing any post processing). At a minimum, please include the date the photo was taken, and which camera was used. Thanks in advance for your friendly cooperation with this.
  • Exhibition images can be obtained with any camera at any time. Camera details are encouraged for general interest, as with Eligible entries.
  • Here is a link straight to the Challenge 94 galleries which now, under the new PBase upload arrangements, can be your direct point-of-entry to the galleries. If you haven't entered a Challenge for some time, note that you no longer "log in" to the STF Challenge account in order to upload and edit your entries:
http://www.pbase.com/stfchallenge/challenge_94_main
  • Fully illustrated upload instructions are contained in their own gallery:
http://www.pbase.com/stfchallenge/how_to_post

Please join in the Challenge, and have fun!

Happy communication,
Moti

Hopefully, I could contribute something to the Exhibition gallery. Even if not, I simply love the topic.

I type faster than I think - and no, I am not a fast typist, just a slow thinker. So please excuse grammatical errors and typos.

Ok guys,
The galleries are ready and all is set for the challenge to start on time.
So prepare your cameras and raise your antennas...

Wishing you happy communication :-)

Please do, I am sure you have some really nice shots that would go with the topic. Also why not trying to take shots for the eligible?

Cheers

What a great theme. Plenty to work on for this one and also very enjoyable IMHO. Communication covers so many subjects. Love it :-))

Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.
