Hi,

it's just some two weeks before I finally get my G2. I am deciding upon additional CF card. I can't go with Microdrive or so, as it is too expensive here.

But - what happens if I use CF I and CF II at once? Can I do so? How does camera decide, which one to use? Or is there any menu item to select? Or? :-)

Thanks,

It won't work! They both go into the same slot. --- Ron

Aren't Microdrive and CFII the same animal?

There is only ONE slot. It will take CF I or CF II but only one or the other - you can't put in two cards.

CF I andd CF II are the format used, the size. The pins inside the door are used for all three types of media. You can only use one media at a time.

Go to http://www.dpreview.com/learn/Glossary/Camera_System/Storage_Card_01.htm and learn the difference in all three.

Microdrive is not a CF (different hardware inside), but it interfaces with the camera's software in the same way as a CF II. - Therefore, any camera that takes a CF II will take a microdrive.

Whether a camera that takes a CF I also takes a CF II depends on how smart the camera's operating system is. The G2's has this capability.

The physical connections are the same in every case, and the camera does the recognition automatically. And it only fits one at a time..
