As it looks like Pentax will have a FF offering in it's line up in the near future thought it would be fun to make a few prophesies Lens @ launch

It a given all the fa Limited will be ready

FA50 f1.4 obvious

FA35 f2 as there seemed to be a new/test production run last year.

FA28-90 back from the grave repackaged and cleaned up (i'd prefer a 28-70 f4 !)

FA* WR 28-70 f2.8 why not, remove Pz add SDM

FA* WR 80-200 f2.8 SDM

FA* 300 F2.8 ED

FA* 600 F4 ED not even sure that production ever really ceased on this unit.

FA* 250-600 F5.6 ED

The last three would be so cool and as they make an appearance in the k3 manual (pg84) I feel entitled to dream :)

Thought about changing my login to pentaxEngland as that's all you need to make it official leak :) around here .!

Already got that covered with a Samyang 14mm f2.8. Below is the lens on a full frame Pentax ME Super

Seems like the three FA limiteds would slide in about here

The 50mm and 100mm macro lenses were all originally FF, so they should count as well.
FA28-90 back from the grave repackaged and cleaned up (i'd prefer a 28-70 f4 !)
Or how about the 24-90 f/3.5-4.5?
FA* WR 28-70 f2.8 why not, remove Pz add SDM

FA* WR 80-200 f2.8 SDM
Something along the lines of these two should be present at launch. IIRC, the FA* normal zoom had some shortcomings that would need to be addressed.
FA* 300 F2.8 ED
I would think the DA* 300 f/4 would be adapted to FA first.
FA* 600 F4 ED not even sure that production ever really ceased on this unit.
I don't see people switching to FF for long telephoto. Most APS shooters already crop a good bit. FF offers no advantage in that scenario, and with lower pixel densities than aps-c, it is actually weaker. If the pixel densities were identical, the only advantage of FF would be that you could shoot a wider angle shot if need be without changing lenses.
FA* 250-600 F5.6 ED
Same as above. If there were a market for this lens, it would already be in production. Birders never found a lens too long, even on APS-C.

What?!?!?! No love for the FA-J 18-35? :P

I can't wait to mount my FA 35mm F2, 43mm, 77mm and DFA 100mm on a FF body.

Why bother? I love my k-5, then Ricoh doesn't need to produce a FF, By the way, FF are just same quality (or even less) as my old aps-c...

I had them four line above :)

My Bad :)

Confusing though.

I'm hoping Pentax doesn't aim at the d600-d800 market segment but the d800-d4.

To do that you need fast hi spec telephotos, Pentax still has the production collateral fo r all the lens I mention so re-tooling would be cheaper for these than new optical designs.

Nope :)

At the time of Launch there would be

DFA* 16-35 f2.8

DFA* 24-70 f2.8

DFA* 70-200 f2.8

DFA 31 HD LTD f1.8

DFA 43 HD LTD f1.9

DFA 77 HD LTD f1.8

DFA 35 f2 HD
DFA 50 f1.4 HD

DFA 50 f2.8 HD WR MACRO

DFA 100 f2.8 HD WR MACRO II

All of these with weather sealing, except maybe the Limiteds, with the HD coating and 9 bladed rounded apertures.

DFA 20-35 f4 HD WR

DFA 24-105 f4 HD WR

"Consumer" level lenses, with the 24-105 being the kit lens.

I think they need to be smart

Hit those FF focal lengths that though have no place in an APS-c lineup are sort after.

So that 24-105 and the 80-200 woudl be wonderful.

It will allow them to break the 'we make em small' without compromising their ethics.

Everyone is assuming a FF DSLR to the last man. Are people ruling out a FF mirror-less and lenses to match? Maybe Pentax, maybe Ricoh? They said any FF Pentax would be 'different'.......

Anyway back to the DSLR assumption....... I notice that no-one is calling for wide primes - wide FLs are all appearing in these wish-lists as zooms. Pentax currently have no prime that will cover FF wider than the 31mm Ltd. I'd like to see a 24mm and another WA around 18-20mm. I'd like lenses that are sharp corner to corner, have low light fall off, are resistant to flare and have very low distortion. Sort of like the DA 15mm f4 Ltd but in FF. I'd be happy for it to be physically bigger and f2.8 or f4 (again) if the IQ is stellar. I won't be interested if they me-too Canikon with large 24/1.4 lenses that weigh 600gms and cost $2K.

And still no-one wants TS lenses? 24mm, 35mm and 70mm please! Alternatively please give us a quality TS adapter that takes Pentax 645 lenses. I have absolutely no idea why they haven't offered one already.......it's such an obvious accessory. No more shift-only lenses please - tilt is essential.

Cheers, Rod

The DA* 55mm f/1.4 appeared to be an FF lens when I used it on my Z-1p and scanned in the results:

I wonder about this would they re-brand any DA lens or would they confuse the market to much ?
Why not? Update them with HD coatings, few other things (on a case to case basis, maybe rounded apertures, even AF motors), change designation. IMO it would be confusing not to do it.

Perhaps they'll upgrade it to HD and rename it at the same time?

(They can do all sorts of marketing tricks using HD! Think of the DA* 300mm f/4 and the DA* 200mm f/2.8, which are also FF lenses. Will we see those re-launched as HD?)

Edit: whoops - I notice that Alex said the same thing! Sorry for the duplication).

Indeed, Pentax/Ricoh are ruling out a FF mirrorless.

"Even though there was possibility to bring FF into this segment, it was our conclusion that APS-C should be the utmost size for mirrorless segment."

"First, we are discussing development of FF SLR. We are touching base with a sensor manufacturer and proceeding the process of development towards production."

Toshiyuki Kitazawa, Head of Business Development, (Pentax) Ricoh Imaging. Text taken from the other forum, google "Kitazawa interview" to find it.

Things will happen, in time. I'd guess their capacity to be no more than 4-5 new K-mount lenses per year (not counting updates), but with Ricoh "pouring resources" who knows...

Special purpose lenses would be last, probably.

I don't use Limited lenses now, and probably won't if I buy an FF camera. I suspect most people who buy an FF camera will be the same, although a very vocal minority may give a different impression.

I would want top quality zooms, especially at least one long zoom. (I don't need f/2.8, at least to start with).
