This assortment was taken using the ancient 5D Mark IV, after the R7 couldn't power up after sitting idle for 9 months and sent to the Canon service center to be charged 1/5 of its original price to change the mother board. Looks like ancient machine still live up to the expectations!

Lovely varied set. Your R5 died of loneliness. Soldered mainboard batteries have become standard and give cameras about a 5 year life time.

My R7 was just less than 2 years when I discovered it dead. I was actually stunned coz my 7D, 6D II and 5D IV are still functional and kicking. Perhaps my R7 copy was not tough enough or so called cannot stand loneliness 😂. I suspect it was not engineered to last long.....

The battery that backs up the configuration probably needs periodic charges. Stupid and/or planed obsolescence.

My 50 or so year old Brownie Jr. still works fine :-}
