An Image With The E10

Hi Carl

I really like the style of this shot - it could just be a quick grab shot or a purposely setup 'fashion' portrait - it's a little intriguing and appealing.

I do have one slight concern though about the foreground central placement of the suitcase, which is the dominant feature of the photograph and overshadows the girl, putting her into the background somewhat.

If this shot was being used to advertise a range of fashionable suitcases then it is spot-on. If not, then it may be better to show more of the girl and a bit less of the case.

It's just my initial thoughts so please feel free to ignore ;-)

Best regards

Paul

The camera was set at ISO 320. Lens was set at f2.4, I can't remember the shutter speed setting. No fill lights were used, this is all ambient light from the hotel lobby.

Hi Carl:

...Excellent example of lagging the shutter to bring in the ambient light. Shows what can result from effective planning of both shutter speed (for ambient light) and aperture (for studio strobe) in a real-world non-studio environment.

Also it's a sharp well-composed photo and I like the tasteful use of the framed presentation.

Bob

PS I agree with the comment about the suitcase. Hopefully, it is your intended focus of attention.

It sure looks like a stobe was used camera right. The shadows of the suitcase and highlights on the models face sure don't look like ambient light!

Excellant shot.
If the shot is for the luggage the girl is distracting.
If the girl is central the luggage takes away. Just kidding.

You mentioned you set the ISO at 320. Did you use any grain noise removed software i.e. PS or Neatimage?

Charles

No, Charles. The image is as it came out of the camera (except for resizing).
