According to a picture on SAR it seems there is no build-in flash.
Too bad, it's nice to have in case of 'emergencies'.

It's a (well informed) rumor site, so things might differ from the final product.

It sounds like it's going along the design established by the a900/a850. These original FF had a large OVF hump in place of a flash.

The lack of flash also is "retro" of early film slr. I would imagine that most FF users don't care one way or another as they probably have multiple flashguns.

My last FF was a Canon AE-1 with a cheap sunpak thyristor - those were the days - I'm much happier with today's modern slt gear :)

I not sure how genuine the picture is but there appears to be no flash but it also looks like there a flash pop-up button the same place as the A77.Also the specs below say there is a built in flash.

Personally,I would prefer they included one, even though I have an external flash.
Looking forward to next week.

No built in flash and an ISO hot shoe?!?!? A 24MP sensor instead of 36MP, no thanks, I will stick with my A77!

Someone pointed out a slim line on the left hand side of the image (camera's right)... on the other hand, why is this image so gosh darn noisy?

Is that the image you are talking about?:

Andrea has already confirmed with his sources that the A99 WILL have a built-in flash.
The picture isn't of great quality.

But it is possible to see a very thin line on the left side (of the picture) as some people stated on SAR.

I'm lazy to post my pics here. So you can look at them here:

if you read the A99 specs shown under the picture, SonyAlphaRumors says the A99 will have "Built-in flash with guide number of 12".

I would be surprised if the A99 has a built-in flash, as it is not normally used in cameras of this level. (But I did like the built-in flash of my Maxxum A900.)

Agree! Doesn't look like the shown camera has a built-in flash. Design that refers to the Minolta 9xi ...

If you force yourself to see it, you can see a faint line around the top where the flash can pop up. It's more prominent on the left side of the photo.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong, that in fact the camera has a built-in flash, and you can see it in the picture, albeit not of great quality.

But I'll eat mine if this proves to be an authentic photograph of the rumored camera. I don't buy it, that 99 is just a bit cheesey, but I'll stand by with some salt.

If you brighten the photo in Photoshop, the only line is between the lens mount and the focus illuminator. There is no line going toward the back of the camera, which would be needed for a pop-up flash.

I think this photo, if real, is one of several prototypes.

Why is it so noisy? Perhaps this was taken with an A100....? :)

I see a button on the right and a line on the left that hint at a popup flash, especially the latter. Proof? No, but the contrary of what many seem to suggest (no popup) at least.
