*istD Special Anniversary Edition - see it?

LLee's post about Oz release date of DS gave this link: http://www.crkennedy.com.au/v1/index.cfm?pageID=217&id=61&tagaction=showArticle&

The Australian importer talks about a current *istD Special Anniversary Edition. Has anybody seen it and know what is different (hopefully not like some of those ghastly gold special editions SLRs of yesteryear!)?

Also note it says "has all the features of the *istDS but with battery grip option".... which came first, the chicken or the egg?!

CR Kenny claim that it has "all the features of the Pentax *ist DS". Are we sure there are no updates to the firmware?

Re: *istD Special Anniversary Edition - see it?

This is actually the version of the *istD that I have. That claim by CR is utter BS. I even had to update the firmware before it would work with screw mount lenses.

Just o clarify. all buttons on it are gold coloured, it has a 50 years in Australia lable on the back, and it has a special strap. Not that different to any other *istD IMHO.

If the *ist D anniversay model has the features of the *ist DS (such as faster write speeds and larger buffer and improved memory doors and compact flash compartment), then it may be a hot item.

Re: *istD Special Anniversary Edition - see it?

I think you'll find that they are trying to convince potential *ist Ds buyers to buy the *ist D instead. In other words "it has all the features of the *ist Ds but with a battery grip...etc"

Probably just trying to move stock of the *ist D.
