Cicada, squirrel, yellojacket

All three images are cropped and downsized 50% from the processed originals (noise reduction, sharpening, contrast tweaking etc).

It seemed to be cicada molting time, as I saw quite a few discarded cicada skins on the trees this weekend. Perhaps this one just molted from the skin you see next to it as its colors seem a bit pale.

Some expressions, you just can't explain.

Had attempted to post before, but my hosting server apparently was having severe difficulties that weekend. These yellowjacket wasps were a lot less defensive than I thought they might be about intruders approaching their nest; even the use of flash didn't faze them.
