Fred Miranda Plugins....with PS CS & C1 SE

Hi All,

I currently have PS CS and Capture 1 SE for Windows (RAW).... Knowing that I have the latter 2 packages, do I need to download FM plugins?? He makes it look easier with the plugins. If I do download them, am I wasting my money and causing duplication already available in the software that I have??

Like to hear from those that have same 2 software packages that I have. Thanks in advance...

Well, I enjoy Miranda's Intellisharpen and Frames software packages a lot. You probably can achieve the same effects with PS CS but with less ease. Fred's software is certainly not expensive. I bought his programs after having both of the other programs you mentioned.

it depends on usage and skill . i have downloaed the digital velvia and found it to worth what i spent . bumping up the saturation never seemed to give the results i wanted . I started my hobby about five years ago i used cheaper neg. film and moved to velvia and astia 100 . i wanted to keep that higher level of saturation so i tried the d-velvia and am quite happy with the results. pick and choose, is what i can tell you.

Anyone else??

Also, which FM plugins do you use?? Trying to get an idea of the most used here on this forum. Intellisharpen for sure... How about others?? Keeping in mind that I have PS CS and C1 SE.

I use Intellisharpen Pro most often. Next would be his B&W actions. I have the Digital Velvia one, too, but seldom use it.

I Use Freds Plugins ...

... DV, WP, SI and Frames. Also I own C1LE and PhotoShop CS. You can do everything that Fred's plugins do in PhotoShop is if you have the time to design your own actions.

Well for sharpening I use Focal Blade, because I think it is better that Fred's, C1LE and PhotoShop. There are people feel that when it comes to sharpening PhotoShop is good enough for them. I disagree. I am causing duplication you bet, but I look for steps to improve my workflow and save me time when it comes to photo editing and that why I use them.

My Two Cents

Re: I Use Freds Plugins ...

Any action for Photoshop, whether from Fred Miranda, Mike Finn...whomever...simply utilitzes the features and tools already available in the original software. I've been using Photoshop for 14 years, and I find that the use of other people's actions streamlines my workflow and greatly speeds up the post-processing effort. I just don't have the time to experiment on my own. I'm currently using Miranda's Stair Interpolation, Intelligent Sharpening, Shadow Reduction and ISOX Pro (noise reduction plug-in) and find them all to be invaluable. In fact, from the samples I've seen, Miranda's Shadow Reduction action is far superior than the shadow rection filter built in to Photoshop CS. (I'm using Photoshop 7.)

I use Intellisharpen and Digital Velvia and I love both of them. At $12-20 for each action, you really can't go wrong.

I've been using the soft focus action but now that I finally have a 10D, I'm sure I'll be using the others as well, such as the IntelliSharpen.
