Card Reader - HELP!

Hi,

I just got a new USB2.0 6-in-1 card reader (Y-720).

I tried to connect it to my home PC (XP) but no go - just keeps blinking my

At work (W2000, USB1.1), it seems to read Memory Stick (I also have a sony camcorder+F717) just fine. When I insert the CF from the EOS-300D it recongnizes it but wants to format it ?!?!?!

Anyone tried to read the EOS-300D cards on in any other reader besides the EOS-300D's internal reader?

Thanks,
Ranix

I have used the CF card from the 300D on my external card reader with no problems. It could well be you have a faulty card reader or CF card. Try using another CF card to see if you have the same problem. Alternatively, format the existing CF card in the 300D, snap a few pics and see if the problems reoccur.

A buddy of mine has a card reader that can read CF cards with no problems, but hung his PC when he tries to read a CF II card (microdrive) or an SD card. Turns out his USB connection was flaky

I have the Lexar 2.0 and I use SanDisk cards. They read fine.

What size card.....

I went through several brands before I found one that worked with 512 and larger cards. The ones that didn't work always wanted to format and/or would not recognize the large cards. I finally went with the Lexar 6 in 1 USB 2.0 reader.
