Update I just got this e-mail from Mr Yoshida:

Mr, Jimmie Burton
It confirmed remittance from you.

To have told with the e-mail in the last time, Japan enters the New Year
holiday.
To send off to you becomes on January 5th in 2004 or on the 6th.
Is it good?

Re: Yoshida adapter--easy to order

It looks very professional. Flat black (model 1055B), screws on securely. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the FZ10 lens cover fits onto the front of the Yoshida adapter, so I don't need a new lens cover. I tried my TCON-17 on it - screws on securely. I put on a 55mm Hoya SMC UV filter (which I plan to leave on all the time.) No obvious vignetting through viewfinder at 1X, but I'll take photo tests to make sure.

Good investment for me, since I already have several 55mm filters for the FZ1 (UV, polarizer, star cross, close-up diopter set).

The 155B Yoshida adapter is the same size as the FZ1 plastic adapter, but it's metal and the threads are better, so the TCON-17 screws into it quite securely. Another worthwhile insurance investment for me, since my original TCON-17 fell off my FZ1 and broke when I accidentally attached it using the wrong filter (the only filter I had that held it securely before was the Hoya MC UV.) So I'm on my 2nd TCON-17.
I'll post pictures tomorrow.

The translations are hilarious. Sorry you missed the PayPal.

Oh yes, I forgot. He told me he'd be on vacation from around Dec. 30-Jan. 5. That's one of the reasons I went ahead with a wire transfer - it was fast (but expensive!). Of course, PayPal is even faster!

I'm not in that big of a hurry as I can still attach the B300 and

other lenses to the Fluzi using the lense hood that came with it....

Thanks, Steve. Sounds very very nice--I thought so from the pictures on his website. Ouch (about dropping your first TCON) that must have hurt! My closest experience to that was backing my car up over my dropped cell phone. I know the feeling.

Looking forward to the pictures!

Hi all,

Last night I ordered Yoshida's adapter for the Tcon17, and with the
exception of a pause to lol at the email translations, it was
effortless. I got an immediate answer from him to every question I
asked--I'll let you know how long it takes to arrive.

He is now using PayPal, which has a dropdown list for choosing
currency--so you can pay in yen. I was surprised--had never noticed
before.

His website has pictures of the manufacturing process. No wonder
Carlos had a hard time!

I emailed him in English, as short and simple as possible. He translates it into Japanese and sends you back a message in a rough, but understandable, English translation. Hope this helps.

Re: Instructions for ordering the TCON17/B300 adapter.... ;o)

Thank you Jimmie, for your assistance.

Carlos project at the start seemed to have enough people interested. When he e-mailed with the sad news I replied that I would take two if it would help keep the numbers up.

Guess if I want the Yoshida adapter I'll have to bite the bullet and sign up for paypal, though I regret having to do so. I don't trust the internet for any transactions and haven't done any yet. Call me paranoid - I don't care. In the over 8 years of being connected to the net I've been so very cautious, I have yet to get a single spam or junk e-mail. Believe it - or not. And I don't want it to start now.

Re: Instructions for ordering the TCON17/B300 adapter.... ;o)

Am I missing something here - maybe it's my monitor or my Fz10 is the problem.

I see severe vignetteing with the Tcon17 at full tele - which would be the same for the B300. Why would anyone want this adapter when it vignettes so much? The adapter for the W-com 08 only gives you about 1 step back and this is a very expensiive lens. So is the Tcon 14B which is over $200.

I even get minor vignetteing with the step down rings from 72> 55 but I can live with that on the few photos I use the B300 for.

The A200 works better as far as vignetteing is concerned - gives some room to back off full zoom without removing the lens.

Am I wrong? - Am I missing something that's the key to this?

Your confusing the TCON14B with the little TCON14

which has 46mm threads, I get 50% vignetting free zoom with it and also with the A200. With the B300/TCON17 using a 72 to 55 mm step down ring on the lense hood that came with the FZ10 I only get about 10% free zoom. With the adapter I ordered I'm supposed to get about 50% free zoom with the B300. I've handheld the B300 up close to the lense on the Fluzi and that's what I got....

I received my adapter here in the UK today. I ordered a black 155 for my FZ1 I haven't had the chance to try it out properly yet, but it looks good and is a very well made solid piece of kit,I will test it with my B300 tomorrow I paid in cash with US dollars by registered mail, it took just over a week both ways, Mr Yoshida is a good man to deal with....

Jimmie Burton wrote:

The TCOM14B is for E series cameras and has a 62mm thread and does not vignette. I didn't see anything on the TCOM14 on this site. Maybe I missed it - I'll go back and check.

I don't have a TCON14 so I can't compare but we agree on the A200

With the B300/TCON17 using a 72 to 55 mm step
down ring on the lense hood that came with the FZ10 I only get
about 10% free zoom.

I get no 10% - it vignettes very slightly at full tele

With the adapter I ordered I'm supposed to get
about 50% free zoom with the B300. I've handheld the B300 up close
to the lense on the Fluzi and that's what I got....

They show the TCOM17 on this site vignetteing badly at full tele. They don't show the B300 at all but we know they are essentially the same. I've assumed the B-300 will vignette like the TCOM17 shows on this site.

This is the way both my son and I both saw this adapter on this site and I've decided to wait until someone here in the US gets one and actually posts some pix using the TCOM17 or the B300. The WA doesn't interest me that much at this point but I can tell you that the Raynox6600PRO won't work with the step down ring - vignettes badly.

Let me know,

Don

Re: fz1 adapter

Yes, I have the Yoshida FZ1 adapter also. It's the same size, but metal with better threads. It does NOT have the "bayonet" attachment for the lens hood (but I never used it anyway - too obtrusive in my opinion). The TCON-17 fits quite securely now, without having to have any filters attached first. I'm not sure how much it is by itself (no more than $64 shipped, maybe less). Since I ordered the 155B the same time as the 1055B (for the FZ10), I got a break on price.
