Hi,

I'm looking for anyone's updated opinions on the use of clip in filters, such as the Case or Kolari filters. There are a couple of older threads but now that some time has passed are you still using clip in filters? Are they holding up over time and handling? Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

I recently had a Z5 converted to full spectrum by Kolari. I started out with IF photography using filters on the lenses but have since acquired several of the clip-in filters; hot mirror, nd, 720nm and astro. I have been very happy with the conversion service and the clip-in filters.

The clip-ins fit well and remove easily. I have not done any technical testing.

Kolari says the filters stay in with a lens attached, not otherwise. Would you know if the filters will stay in with the FTZ II adapter?

They stay in with or without a lens or adapter in place unless you give the camera a sharp thump downward. There is a magnetic attachment that lightly holds the filter to the camera body.

A lens or FTZ adapter holds the clip-in filter firmly in place.

What about teleconverters? the 1.4x has a seal with the sale shape of the filter, I am concerned it can break the filter. What do you think?

I can confirm that the 1.4x works with the magnetic clip-in filters, as least the ones from Kolari Vision.
