Why Scotland? Z7 | Z7II
101

Hello guys,

Back in March I drove 8 hours to the start of a sensational weeks photography in the Scottish highlands and far North. Not many of you will have been to Scotland, but if you get the change, you should take up the opportunity.

It feels wild and free, and in March, the weather was pretty insane. I have always wanted to shoot snow capped peaks in Scotland and I got my wish.

If you got this far, thank you. This is my happy place, being outside with a camera, with no other worries but to capture some images.

Chris,

Wow, spectacular!! Way back in 1975, I was living in NYC, there was an ad in the Sunday NY Times advertising a $99 two-week unlimited travel pass on BritRail so I bought a ticket, and then spent ten days going up the east cost of Scotland and then coming back down over on the west coast. It was the off-season and I did not encounter crowds. My favorite parts of the trip were the couple of days I spent on the Isle of SKye which was like going back 1000 years in time and the 2 days in Edinburgh. That trip and the 10 days I spent in Ireland about 5 years ago were among the most wonderful days of travel in my 75 years of life.

Wow, super stunning images and very clean processing.  I love it that it shows off what the 24-120 can do as well.  Polarizer on any?

I've been to Scotland and it's as scenic as your images show. No snow when I was there but plenty of wildness. I was shooting slides then (!) and didn't see what I'd captured until I got back home 9 months later

And it's nice to see the 24-120 in action

Ahh thanks Ken that's really a lovey story and nice to hear. Haha yes Skye is absolutely stunning, and remote, which I do like. I am not sure I could live there but its absolutely beautiful.

Where on Skye did you visit do you remember? Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Sligachen, Elgol?

Here's a few from Skye, if you ever want an image I have shot from Skye I am sure I can send via dropbox or something similar, for you to print.

Thank you Earnie,

I have been working hard on my processing. Simplifying it and actually doing less.

Umm yes there definitely will heave been, not sure which ones now, bit the darker skies I generally an editing choice rather than a sign its a polariser in these images. I never used a polariser until about 3 years back and I now have one for every lens I have.
