I installed a free astronomy skies program on my cellphone which I find very useful for identifying planets. Point the phone like a compass and it shows you what's above the horizon line. I highly recommend it. I'll add the name later when I have my phone at hand.

We have a chance of seeing the aurora borealis this Thursday supposedly even in the Washington DC/VA/MD area. I'm hoping. I experienced it only once, in Syracuse NY, in late spring 1967.
