In case you didn't see the news.

https://www.dpreview.com/news/5901145460/dpreview-com-to-close

I want to say thank you to everyone here who has helped me on my photographic journey, explained technical issues and provided inspiration through their photographs. I'll miss this "community"

What a shame!

Whole forums will be gone after a little grace period of read-only.

So much info lost, even if 90% of it is probably junk, and retirees arguing with other retirees.

News articles going back 25 years, accurate info on cameras people forgot about years ago, reviews and opinions of almost the entire history of the digital camera. Just gone

Not even a sale to someone else, just straight up gone

Guess I'll never get caught up!

My effort to get caught up on wildlife posts all the past year, to where I finally got within about a month - looks like I'll never make it.  Still about a month off.  Oh well.  Life moves on, even if sometimes it moves in crappy ways.

Hey Justin, I enjoyed viewing your photos of the fabulous bird diversity you experience in Florida. Let us know where you will be posting your images going forward. We do not want to suffer from withdrawal syndrome. Hope to see them in the future.

Nice to meet you guys. It was an honour to be part of this community, especially the Sony alpha "crop sensor" community :-). Anyway, life goes on, but the fact that they don't keep the site running as an archive in read only mode is such a shame.

Perhaps we'll never know whether the parent looked for a buyer for this (and the perhaps larger Canikon user) community.

It's really too bad. I have learned a ton by reading your posts and looking at your images. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences! Who knows, maybe someone will swoop in at the last possible moment... Crazier things have happened.

Sony APS-C outlived DPReview.com.

That's surprising.

Very sad news indeed! I've been mostly away recently for medical reasons but am very sad to see the site go. As a data management specialist, I think it is criminal not to keep a read-only copy for 10+ years.

Yeah, how many internet searches for camera-related stuff include dpreview.com posts?  A lot, for me.  It's a fantastic resource.  This is a big loss to the internet, or at least digital photographers.
I'm gonna miss you guys!  I don't know where else to go at this point.  I think I was on a Facebook group for a while, but don't know what happened there.  I don't do Instagram, and that doesn't really replace a forum.  I'd start a forum, but the last time I created a photography-related site, no one was interested, so that's demotivating.
Anyway, maybe some of y'all will post where you're going, and I might have a look.

I've been here for more than 20 years so it's sad indeed that they are shutting down. I'll miss you guys on this Forum.  There are a few groups on Facebook so I might just go there more often and also on Fred Miranda.

Take care,

José

Well at least no more annoying SONY APSC future camera posts.

I mean there was always at least 5 on the main page at any given point in time.

It would be both funny and sad if Sony unveiled a new APSC camera on April 11th.

Hope there's one like that where they gather a lot of YT influencers and the like. A new Sony APS-C flagship should be major news. Maybe instead of a sports theme like the Canon R6MKII in San Diego it will be a wildlife birds in flight on location.

You can't find one word of that here, but if you go digging elsewhere - you can.

I guess not enough people clicked ads, and bought products.

So we are closing a platform which has helped me in improving my photography skills.

I am 92 year old. My children have been giving me cameras. Now I have SONY  A6400. I am using Darktable and Digikam for making adjustments to photos. I have learnt a lot by following the views and reviews of different members.

I have one question and hope will get some answer. What is the average keep % of your photographs.

Thanking you all and wishing you health and happiness.
