Hopefully it will be preserved on the wayback machine.

Good idea Rick. There is a Facebook group already which is called 'Sigma Cameras Users Group'

We could use that. PBase and Flickr do not really support discussion. Facebook would.

PS added: It's a public group with 2000 members, some names I recognize. I'm a member but have never posted there.

facebook no good for me as i prefer not to have an account

Keep this site running, independent with a little charge for all registered users.

Get in contact with all manufacturers for their support (if not alllready done) which have a mention in the "Cameras"-column and the different forums here.  No one really NEEDs Amazon. You need money - others might be happy to give.

I am on a few camera Facebook groups and Facebook is just not like this threaded type forum. FB is a big no for me. The list format from FB is just not conducive to reading and topics get missed down below.

Cameraderie or GetDPI are options for me, I have accounts on both already for years. Its a question as to if you want Sigma mixed with other brands or standalone. Each has their advantages.

Luminous Landscape should be able to handle our group. Kevin (owner) might be willing to accommodate requests to create Sigma or Favion group. Luminous Landscape reviewed Sigma cameras, so they are familiar with our addiction to pixel perfection

I like the rangefinder link:

a) it appears to be a separate forum containing separate threads

b) it says Sigma / Foveon which almost means only Foveon

c) post view pictures much better than DPR on my monitor

d) it is well-established and, if we all migrated there (unlikely of cousre), it would take on new life.

The pentax looks like just one long thread ... we need an actual Forum

Dear all,

let's discuss the alternatives to dpreview. Exisiting Sigma forums, creating a new one, asking other photography web pages to open a forum for us....

Whatever comes to your mind. Would be great to hear if you already have experiences with other Sigma web sites.

Let's not discuss why they close, nor complain that they do. No philosophic excursions...

Just let us think about alternatives which can keep us together as a group. The ones who find value in that idea. Some of us know each other for more than a decade.
It is the only photography oriented forum I am in, so I have no proposal from my side for now.

Frank

I don't know how good it will/might be yet, but I created a "free" forum at a forum website, which has been around for more than twenty years.

https://sigmacameratalk.freeforums.net/

Does anyone have any interest in trying it? Apparently we can post photos there in our posts, and there is no "cost" to any of us to use it.

I'm going to post a photo there now. If you feel like it, please go ahead, and post a new thread there. I'll reply to it. Maybe someone else will too. I am thinking we need to try a few alternatives, before we will figure out the best one.

I don't like how Facebook sensors content, so I won't be a part of a forum on Facebook.

Hi Scott I just signed up let's hope we can get more to follow

Re: Alternatives - I created a Sigma Camera Talk forum

Hi Roger. I think that a page where you can't post full-size photos is completely useless, that's the first thing - full-size photos, otherwise I don't get any joy from it. Scott was in too much of a hurry to start the site. First, you need to find out everything properly, verify it and create a page where you can add photos in full size. Personally, I will only go to a site that allows full size photos to be posted.

Re: Rangefinder looks good to me

Ted, this site https://rangefinderforum.com/forums/sigma-foveon-cameras.112/  is a pretty good option, it just has some cons-
- does not display the full size of the photos, but uses the link to Flickr.
- posts can only be corrected within 60 minutes of publication, which may not always be welcome if I want to correct an idea or grammar after 60 minutes.

But otherwise it looks good..
