Super low light, and terribly backlit

....with my crop sensor R7 + super SLOW RF 800 F11..... ISO 6400. Yet, I'm super pleased with how it processed DXO Pure Raw 2, and just a touch of Topaz for the last 5% of noise in the BG. Zero sharpening. Inevitably, someone will say > Your 'postage stamp sized shot, doesn't mean anything".... But actually, what it means to me, is that I can post a shot as big as it needs to be, for good viewing on a 4K monitor > which is what 98% of my best images will be used for.

I'll post the shot here.... But it will look better on my Flickr page...

Every day in the field is a blessing. Nice photos, of beautiful birds and wildlife are just a bonus.

Very well done Chris - a pleasure to view the Hermit Thrush.

If you view it via the  "orignal size" link here it looks very nice - in particular the feather detail.

I did peek at some of your Flickr page - beuatiful work.

Yes, the realization/acceptance that a 4k monitor will be my primary display device going forward really re-frames (no pun intended) the thinking of what is needed.

At least for now, anyway - I'd love to get back to printing semi-seriously but the lack of space for a 'gallery' and time to do it justice mean that it's somewhere down the list.

Nice work Chris.  I like the picture as is, and I routinely do such shots also with my R7 and 600mm f11 or 100-500L.  We can't always keep ISO down but IMO the R7 images respond well to modern NR-- I use Topaz Ai.
